Serena Pitt on How She Keeps Romance Alive with Fiancé Joe Amabile

Serena Pitt and her boyfriend, Joe Amabile, aka Grocery Store Joe, are one of the strongest couples to have emerged from Bachelor In Paradise. The two have been dating ever since they starred on the show back in 2021.

After a brief courtship documented on the show, they got engaged during the finale of 2021's BIP. And they are still engaged and taking big steps in their love life.

But not that the two do not need to work on their relationship. The secret to their lasting romance and over a year-long engagement lies in their maturity.

Pitt and Amabile have never been shy about their relationship, but they did not have any wisdom to share during the first year together. Now, though, they have figured out a thing or two on how to keep the spark alive.

During an Instagram Q&A session right after her first year engagement anniversary, she answered some fans' questions about the said topic.

"Relationships always take work!" she responded to one of the questions (via Bachelor Nation). "We are conscious of active communication and prioritize each other and our needs."

She also added that what made things easier between the two was their fondness for one another. Pitt said they "genuinely really enjoy spending time together and communicating," and that made things much smoother between them.

Answering another question, she said the best change in her life since BIP was Amabile.

The two recently took a big step in their life — they got an apartment in New York and moved in together, a process she described as "pretty smooth."

Sharing their new apartment makeover in a YouTube video, she said they were still figuring out how to manage both their things in a relatively small space.

They also wanted their space to feel like "home" and be aesthetically pleasing, as they did a lot of content filming in their space.

Pitt and Amabile struck up a connection while appearing on the 2021 season of Bachelor in Paradise. They both had experiences in the Bachelor franchise before they were cast on BIP together.

She featured on The Bachelor's season 25 where she tried winning Matt James's heart. As for Amabile, he was a regular on The Bachelorette from 2018 until 2021, and the same with BIP.

Then, their relationship was hinted in the teaser for BIP's season seven. As the season went on, their bond became stronger, they fell in love, and in the 3-hour long season finale, they got engaged.

Amabile got down on one knee and proposed to Pitt at a beachfront on June 26, 2021. She said yes, and that was that.

Because everything went down in front of the cameras, they could not have a celebration with their family and friends. That long overdue celebration is finally happening at the end of August 2022 in her hometown of Toronto.

During the above-mentioned Q&A, Pitt revealed her parents were throwing the couple an engagement party.

It was supposed to be only for family and friends — they had invited Natasha Parker and Tia Booth, among others.
