‘Real Housewives of Miami’ Star Nicole Martin Says Marriage Wasn’t a Priority
The recently revived Real Housewives of Miami returned for the fourth season after an eight-year hiatus.
Some of the OG cast members, like Marysol Patton and Alexia Echevarria, were brought back on the show.
But viewers were also introduced to newcomers like Dr. Nicole Martin.
According to Bustle, Martin is a board-certified anesthesiologist and assistant professor of clinical anesthesiology at the University of Miami Hospital and Clinics.
Before she began practicing, the doctor received her medical degree from the University of Miami School of Medicine.
She completed her first residence at Jackson Memorial Hospital and her second at Emory University.
Since then, Martin has been in practice for almost ten years now.
As for her personal life, audiences were unsure about her relationship status when she first came on Real Housewives of Miami.
But all that changed at the start of the year.
‘Real Housewives of Miami’ Star Nicole Martin Engaged
On December 31, 2021, Martin’s soon-to-be husband, Anthony Lopez, proposed while they were on vacation in Aspen with their 2-year-old son Greyson.
The pair first met in 2015 in the lobby of the Wynn hotel when they were visiting Las Vegas.
Martin was with her friends when she ran into other friends, and Lopez was within that circle.
A few days after returning to Miami, Lopez reached out to the anesthesiologist after he got hold of her number.
He asked her out on a date, which she initially refused, but Martin agreed after some persuasion from Lopez’s side. The duo hit it off and have been together ever since.

So when her longtime partner proposed, Martin said yes, and after the engagement, she opened up about it to People.
“We’ve talked about marriage before. I think we both knew it would happen one day. I just didn’t know that day was coming so soon. It was a total surprise!” Martin told the outlet.
The reality star shared that the proposal was simple and happened while they watched the sunrise in bed together.
She realized something was off when her partner got emotional about their lives and relationship.
But she soon realized what was coming next.
Nicole Martin on Why She Finally got Engaged
Martin also appeared on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen and revealed why she finally decided to get engaged.
During one of the episodes on Real Housewives of Miami, Martin was asked what she would do if her partner proposed.
“I always said I would say ‘yes.’ For us, it was just not a priority. You know, we had both been married before, and there were other things that were more important to us than getting married,” shared the doctor.
She added that she and her soon-to-be husband wanted to have a family, build their home and establish their careers.
And now that they had achieved all that, they felt the timing was right.
The Real Housewives of Miami star iterated that marriage was never an end goal for her and focused on being happy with her partner.
She shared that proposal or not; nothing had changed in their relationship.
Martin was happy with Lopez and would continue to be so.
