Paul Rudd on Peaceful Life with Wife and Kids — ‘I Don’t Think I’m Going to Sell a Lot of Tabloids’

Paul Rudd has played everything from a teenage heartthrob in Clueless to a crime-fighting superhero in Ant-Man. 

And in 2021, he was crowned the Sexiest Man Alive by People.

The honor was revealed in an extended comedy sketch on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.

It wasn’t a surprise considering that the actor enjoys a huge female fanbase due to his dashing looks and incredible talent. 

But despite all the attention, the star is notoriously private about his personal life.

He told The New York Times in 2019 that he didn’t want people knowing much about him and had zero interest in being an open book. 

However, fans are still curious, so here is a breakdown of his personal life which includes details of his life with his spouse, his parents, and his son and daughter.

Is Paul Rudd married?

Unfortunately for the fans who were not aware, Rudd has been married to his wife Julie Yaeger, a former publicist and screenwriter, since 2003. 

The couple met after Rudd finished filming Clueless and moved to New York. 

On the first day the actor arrived in the city, he was late for an audition and had to leave his luggage with the woman working at his publicist’s office. 

The woman was his wife, and she offered to help Rudd look after his things. 

During an interview with Marie Claire UK, the actor opened up about his initial days with his wife.

He shared that he was impressed at her maturity and got the impression that Yaeger was a woman, not a girl. 

“I was really taken with who she was and how she had overcome and was in the process of overcoming adversities in her life,” he said. 

The couple has been living happily together ever since they got married. 

Rudd is convinced that their regular and drama-free life will not sell a lot of tabloids. 

“My wife and I have been together for 16 years. My parents were married my whole life until my father passed away a few years ago,” the actor shared with Elle in 2011.

Rudd and his wife are parents to two children. His son, Jack Sullivan Rudd, was born in 2006, while his daughter Darby Rudd was born in 2010. 

The parents of two prefer to keep their children out of the spotlight, but they have been spotted with their superstar parents on rare special occasions. 

For instance, they brought their kids with them at the unveiling of Rudd’s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2015.

The Ant-Man actor might be the coolest and sexiest man to others, but he is just a regular embarrassing father to his son and daughter. 

In 2018, Rudd told the men’s fashion site, Mr. Porter, that he loved seeing his son and daughter roll their eyes when he told them a dad joke. 

“I know they find it funny. They kind of try to fight a smile,” shared the star. 

Even when Rudd was crowned the sexiest man alive, his son and daughter had no interest and were put off by the idea. 

To put it bluntly, His children were not impressed. 

Nevertheless, the actor joked that he was going to make business cards with the new title.
