It looks like TikTok star Olivia Ponton and UCLA Women Soccer team player Kaila Novak aka Kai Novak have broken up.

On September 1, Novak posted a cryptic TikTok that said, “Why do nice people choose the wrong people to date” which fans assume is about Ponton. At first, fans thought Novak was acting, as the quote is from a movie, but she posted another TikTok.

Reasons for Olivia Ponton and Kai Novak's Split

She revealed that she got stood up on a coffee date, and it appears the date was not with her girlfriend Ponton because she is in New York while Novak is at college at UCLA. Fans are now leaving comments on her TikTok, asking if they have broken up.

Then another TikTok surfaced, which provided better insight into why they broke up. The TikTok made by user Sf Crawford wrote in the video caption, “When you guys break up and 2 weeks later Olivia Ponton tried to fly him out to L.A. February was a difficult time.”

The ex-boyfriend was the same guy Ponton had duetted with back in February, asking him to be her Valentine. Novak commented on Crawford’s TikTok, noting the truth had come out, which might mean that Novak and Ponton were actually together when Ponton allegedly tried to fly out the other guy.

Previously during Ponton’s Teen Vogue feature in June, she mentioned that she and Novak had been secretly dating for four months. So it seems like while Novak and Ponton were together, Ponton was also sliding into another guy’s D.M.

However, nothing has been confirmed yet, so fans have to wait for the girls to tell the truth.

Kai Novak Responds to Fake Relationship Rumors

Ponton and Novak confirmed their relationship in June, but rumors of the two dating circulated long before when they were seen together in various social media and real-life interactions.

However, after confirming their relationship, a TikTok user by the name of Hannah Kosh posted a video on the platform claiming that their relationship was all a ruse to get Novak’s sister into modeling with Ponton’s help.

In the video, the user revealed that Novak was talking to another girl, Rillie Hardister, and even showed evidence of screenshots of messages between Novak and Rillie, which confused many fans.

Novak wasn’t having any of it and took matters into her own hands. On April 30, Novak made her own video addressing the claims stated in Kosh’s TikTok. She claimed that the text messages between her and Hardister were fake and demonstrated just how easy it was to make one.

She shared that she and Hardister never dated or met and accused Hardister of being jealous of her happy relationship and trying to ruin it. She revealed Hardister pretended to be her and texted one of her friends.

The soccer player then ended the video, saying it disheartened her to defend herself for something she didn’t do and that it was the last time she would talk about this matter.
