Morena Baccarin, who is presently married to Ben McKenzie, has walked down the aisle twice in her life.

The award-winning actress was first married to film producer and director Austin Chick. She became official with him in November 2011, separated in July 2015, and finalized the divorce in March 2016.

Despite being parents to a son, Julius Chick, born in October 2013, they ended the marriage citing irreconcilable differences.

Interestingly, before the divorce was finalized, she had started seeing her present husband, McKenzie, with whom she now shares two children.

Morena Baccarin and Husband Ben McKenzie’s Beginning

Baccarin and McKenzie started dating each other after they first met while co-starring in the Fox series Gotham together.

In the crime drama television series, the actress played the supporting role of Leslie "Lee" Thompkins, while McKenzie, a celebrated actor, portrayed the lead character James Gordon.

The two eventually confirmed their relationship in September 2015 after being notoriously private about it in the past.

At the time, they also revealed she was pregnant with their child and planned to get married after her divorce was finalized.

The couple welcomed their first baby, daughter Frances, in March 2016.

Morena Baccarin's Secret Wedding on Her Birthday

After dating for over two years, Baccarin and McKenzie married in an intimate ceremony at the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens in Brooklyn, New York.

And it turns out that the two apparently shared the wedding vows on a very special day — Baccarin's birthday — on June 2, 2017.

During an appearance on Harry in September 2017, the actor revealed that the pair didn't mean to get married on her birthday, but it happened that way.

"We wanted to get married at the Botanic Gardens in Brooklyn, which was beautiful. When we wanted to book it, which was over a year in advance in our defense, the only date available was my wife's birthday," he explained.

He also recalled his wife giving him one rule to follow after choosing that date for their nuptials.

McKenzie said, "She just wants me to be clear that she is going to get a birthday present and there is going to be an anniversary gift and it's a whole week. She's Brazilian and birthdays are very special."

The ceremony was reportedly held in the presence of close friends and family members.

The pair wanted the wedding to be so private that even McKenzie's former co-star and close friend Logan Marshall-Green posted a photo with the groom on Instagram without revealing the wedding location.

The Couple's Family Life Now

At present, the couple is happily raising three children together.

The three kids are — the eldest, Julius, whom the actress also co-parents with her first husband, Baccarin, and McKenzie's first child, Frances, and the youngest member of the family, son Arthur.

The pair's second child was born in March 2021, and both took to Instagram to announce the news. They shared the same picture of their newborn son lying on his side with his hands covering his face.
