Is Kyla Pratt Married Yet?
Pratt has been in a long-term relationship with Danny "KP" Kirkpatrick, a famed tattoo artist, rapper, and songwriter based in Los Angeles. The pair met in the late 2000s when Kirkpatrick's cousin invited the actress into their home.
Meanwhile, the rapper was serving probation, and his friends had come over to his house. They were playing games and got into a debate about who could drink the most from a tall shot glass. Kirkpatrick asked his friend to take the shot and burst out laughing when the friend spat it all out.
Pratt witnessed the scene and unhesitantly came forward, challenging the tattoo designer. Kirkpatrick accepted the challenge on the condition that he would call Pratt 'KP Jr.' if he successfully took the shot. Pratt agreed and lost the challenge.
Pratt and Kirkpatrick befriended each other after the meeting. Their friendship eventually transformed into love.
After years of dating, the duo took a step forward in their relationship, getting engaged in 2011. They welcomed their daughters Lyric and Liyah Kirkpatrick in November 2010 and August 2013, respectively.
But they haven't yet gotten married or shared their wedding plans. That being said, Pratt has been vocal about her thoughts on tying the knot with her fiancé.
Kyla Pratt on Marriage
During an interview with VLAD TV back in September 2014, Pratt got candid about her opinion on marriage. When the interviewer asked her when she would get married to her partner, the mother-of-two bluntly replied, "We're going to get married when we feel like it."
Moving on, Pratt shed light on the pressure women bear in society. She mentioned how people pressurize couples in relationships to get married.
Then, the 35-year-old shared her own experience as "I was having a conversation with someone recently, and I reminded them, I said, 'There's a lot of pressure that comes with that piece of paper.'"
The talented actress also remarked it was wise to work on the relationship before jumping into all that pressure. She stressed she didn't want to get married just to get divorced, reasoning that a healthy marriage was more important than a grand wedding.
Right after sharing her opinion, the Los Angeles native reiterated she and her boyfriend-turned-fiancé were in a good place and nowhere near any rush to tie the knot.
She noted they would start planning for a wedding once they felt ready and also implied that they could remain unmarried for their life while raising their kids in a healthy environment.
"As long as we communicate and we are doing a great job raising our kids together. That's all that matters," she stated at the end of the conversation.
Although she and Kirkpatrick aren't husband and wife yet, their relationship is indeed a testament to true love, and their family is, without question, goals.
