King Von, real name Dayvon Daquan Bennett, was honed by the streets of Chicago and scorned by the same.

That's why he moved to Atlanta, where he made it to the upper echelons of one of the grandest hip-hop scenes in the US, if not the world.

However, the 'Took Her To The O' rapper had one too many active feuds out in the streets, even in Atlanta.

He ended up dead after a fight broke out between two groups in the Monaco Hookah Lounge parking lot on Trinity Avenue back in November 2020.

The altercation was between Quando Rondo and King Von's respective crews.

Still, fame followed the 'I Am What I Am' rapper.

Becoming King Von

King Von built on the post-drill landscape after stars like G Herbo, Chief Keef, and King Louie had set the stage.

Still, intent on carving out a stylistic niche for himself, the rapper made a name for himself with his narrative rhymes and dead-eye nihilism with just the right dose of humor and empathy.

King Von's songs reflect the hearth of hardcore street life whilst voicing the desire to leave the gangster mindset behind.

While he was already an established rapper back home, he couldn't stay. So he had to move to Atlanta.

He once told Passion of the Weiss that he loved it in Atlanta. He lived a life of luxury, without problems, and amongst rappers. However, he was quick to note,

I like Chicago better though because I have my people out there, but the police know me too well in Chicago and there are people that don't like me.

That's the reason why he celebrated his career success by making his way back home to Parkway Gardens neighborhood in Chicago with wads of cash and handing them out to families and kids in need.
