Reality television star Katie Maloney, also known as Katie Maloney-Schwartz, is one of the original cast members of Bravo's long-running reality series Vanderpump Rules.

During the course of the show, the viewers not only saw drama between the cast members but also saw Maloney transition from her mid-20s to her 30s and witnessed her body's weight gain to weight loss journey.

However, her journey, especially related to her weight, was not easy for her, as she faced various body-shaming comments on social media.

Katie Maloney About Body-Shaming Comments

Speaking with People in 2018, Maloney opened up about the demeaning and hurtful comments she received over the years about her weight.

"I get 'wow you've really blown up,' or 'Miss Piggy.' I get the cow emoji a lot, or 'are you pregnant?' 'What happened to you?' It's insane, things you never could imagine saying to anyone. I've got it all," she said, revealing the remarks she received.

The reality TV star also discussed how even the people involved with the show occasionally said wrong things about her body. She recalled event planner Kevin Lee once telling her that her weight was "out of control," and that she "has to work on it."

Maloney explained she was shocked to hear that because she had never thought someone would have the guts to say something like that to her face. "...especially someone that I don't have a relationship with. We don't know each other that well. With Kevin it was just so inappropriate," she added.

Admits Gaining Weight after Joining the Show

In the same interview, Maloney, who is married to fellow TV personality Tom Schwartz, revealed that she experienced a change in her body since the reality show started in 2013.

According to her, she started working out when she was in high school and used to hit the gym even when she joined the show. But after appearing on the show, she thought of giving herself a rest, which she now admits was the wrong time to do.

Afterward, her body started gaining weight, and she also noticed it but initially decided to appreciate her shape. However, after a while, her weight gain and the body-shaming comments made her lose her confidence and strength.

Weight Loss and Growing Self Love

After regularly getting hit by body shamers and losing "self love," she learned to ignore the trolls while maintaining good care of her body. Doing that, she revealed in another interview with People in April 2020 that she lost 20 lbs without dieting.

"I have, and thank you. I've lost a little over 20 pounds," she told the publication. "It feels good."

Maloney revealed that she initially tried to cut out things like alcohol and sweets to lose weight, but she consulted a medical professional when it didn't work. She then found out that glucose levels were pretty high, which could've led to some possible pre-diabetic problems.

But since she found a nutritionist, she got help to "understand how to eat for my metabolism, especially with being insulin resistant or insulin-sensitive."

Now, with a wealth of knowledge on what foods she should be eating, she eats the proper meal suited for her body and keeps her weight in check.
