Jet Li Apologized to First Wife Huang Qiuyan for Their Failed Marriage

Due to this, it was important for him to apologize to his former wife, Huang Qiuyan. Li wanted to mend bridges with her for their marriage not working out as planned.

Li revealed in 2020 that he was so grateful and trusted his present wife, Nina Li Chi, that he decided to give her control of his RMB2 billion fortune.
The actor expressed his gratitude to Chi, whom he married in 1999, for putting her career in showbiz on hold to focus on their family.
He also recalled the time when he was younger, he had met a girl who adored him, and he had mistakenly believed that he too loved her as well.
But after seeing Chi, he knew it was love at first sight, a love so strong that he would forgo fame and money for her. This girl he referred to was his first wife, Qiuyan.
Li was married to Qiuyan for three years, from 1987 to 1990, before meeting Nina in 1988, when they both worked on Dragon Fight.
Since he realized he needed to apologize to his former wife, he said [via Yahoo], "To my former wife, I want to say I am sorry. I was wrong. I just learned what true love is."

He later added that after 21 years of marriage with Chi, the former beauty icon is always radiant and is very caring about their two kids, Jane and Jada.
He continued it makes him feel worthy as a husband.
Jet Li’s Marriage with Huang Qiuyan Was about Luck
It is reported that the former couple met when they were both Wushu students at Beijing Shichahai Sports School. Even though Qiuyan was two years older than Li, they got along well and married quietly in June 1987.
The couple did not have a formal ceremony, and neither of their parents was present at the wedding.
Li decided to move to the United States to advance his career in 1988, and Qiuyan, who was seven months pregnant, left her showbiz profession to be with her husband.
She went on to have two children, Si Li and Taimi Li, who are now in their early thirties.
It is also noted that Li only married Qiuyan because his godmother, a medium, told him he had to if his "luck" was to improve.
She had given this piece of advice after his health had deteriorated, believing that the positive energy from an auspicious event such as marriage would help.
Despite this, Qiuyan has had nothing but positive things to say about Li after their divorce. She has been highly praised for her understanding and forgiving nature for this.
