Kim Kardashian and her sisters recently did an interview for Variety. During the conversation, the Kardashian sisters, especially Kim, talked about the merits of hard work and shared advice for women in business.

The reality TV mogul, clad completely in black leather, stated that anyone who wanted to emulate her success should just work harder every day.

"I have the best advice for women in business," Kim said. "Get your [expletive] up and work. It seems like nobody wants to work these days. You have to surround yourself with people who want to work."

Meanwhile, one former Kardashian employee stepped into the fray, tweeting that she formerly worked on the apps but could hardly afford to put gas in her car.

The person in the spotlight here is Jessica DeFino, who slammed Kim's "women in business" advice, saying, "I saw firsthand how the most famous women in the world Frankensteined an impossible standard of beauty..."

"...pushed the rest of us to 'keep up' with them, weaponized that standard of beauty to sell products, and *still* never felt good enough."

Jessica DeFino Slams Kim Kardashian

Before slamming Kim and her ideologies about success, DeFino introduced herself as someone who worked as "an editor on the Kardashian apps" in 2015 in Los Angeles.

She reportedly worked hard on days, nights, and even on weekends; however, she could only afford groceries from the 99 Cents Only Stores.

And despite that, she often found herself broke financially.

"...called out 'sick' more than once bc I couldn't put gas in my car to get to the office, & was reprimanded for freelancing on the side," she added.

After sharing all that, she stated the wildest thing about her job was to witness the most famous women making others do all the hard work and talk about beauty standards to sell their products.

That was the reason DeFino eventually quit the company, owned by the Kardashian/Jenner sisters, and joined beauty media in the hope of changing the industry.

But as per her, she didn't realize at the time that people in power also dominated the industry, and she had little power to change things.

"It's why I do what I do now: Critiquing the beauty industry and reporting on the harms of beauty culture for my newsletter, The Unpublishable," Kim's ex employee wrote, publicizing her current work.

Ironically — in the same interview with Variety, Kris Kardashian stated that money always mattered, but it turns out the sisters forgot to pay the hardworking women who helped build them adequately.

Jessica DeFino Had Called Out Kardashians in the Past, Too!

This was not the first time DeFino called out the Kardashians in public, as she did it multiple times in the past, too.

In June 2020, she said similar things, while adding her work contract with the Kardashians was an awful and exploitative policy that poorly paid the employees.

Because of that, the employees never got the chance to grow, but the sisters kept on growing.

Kim or any of her sisters are yet to comment on the backlash.
