The wedding was an intimate affair with only selected friends and family members in attendance.

The Chicago Fire star confirmed the news to The Daily Telegraph in October 2020 and described their special day as their “silver lining to 2020.”

He further revealed that the intimate ceremony took place in his wife's hometown of Neptune Beach, Florida, on the same day as her grandparents’ wedding anniversary.

“Despite a spike in COVID, a venue change, a Saharan dust plume, not to mention a torrential thunderstorm, we made it across the line on our wedding day, and I’m a very lucky man,” Spencer told the tabloid.

Spencer and his wife began dating in 2014 after meeting at the Chicago music festival.

Following that, the actor got on bended knees to propose to her during a week-long hike in the Peruvian Andes in 2019 — and became engaged.

During the aforementioned conversation with The Daily Telegraph, Spencer gushed about his relationship with his wife and how elated they were to be together.

“We’re very happy. She is my port in every storm, and we’re already excited to be moving on to the next phase of our lives,” he stated.

He later praised his bride by describing her as smart, pretty, and “way ahead of her years.”

In November 2021, Spencer and Carr were also reported to be expecting their first child together. A Twitter handle under the name @onechicagonews broke the news.

Spencer’s wife, Carr, is an independent woman who is a research scientist by profession.

According to Research Gate’s website, she has been working as a research specialist at the Department of Psychology at Northwestern University since July 2018.

She has a Ph.D. in communication sciences & disorders and MA in communication sciences. She also has a bachelor's degree in psychology and music performance.

Even though Spencer has been tight-lipped about his personal life over the years, a few details about his love life is public knowledge.

For instance, he was previously engaged to actress Jennifer Morrison. 

The duo first met in March 2004 at Vancouver International Airport when they were on their way to film the pilot episode of the medical drama House.

They began dating shortly after in July 2004 and got engaged during their vacation in Paris at the Eiffel Tower during Christmas 2006.

However, they called off their engagement in August 2007.
