A Look at Hailee Steinfeld’s Relationship with Her Parents
Hailee Steinfeld has achieved a great deal of success despite her young age, both as an actor and a singer. But she wouldn't have been able to reach stardom without the support of her parents.
During an appearance on the talk show Lorraine, Steinfeld credited her family for her success.
"I owe a lot to my family for keeping me in check," she stated, adding they kept supporting her, loving her, and sacrificing so much for her.
She noted she wouldn't have been able to do what she loved without them.
In another interview, Steinfeld shared she felt lucky her parents had been so supportive of her.
She also expressed her gratitude towards them for always encouraging her while instilling discipline, drive, and passion in her.
Hailee Steinfeld's Family and Ethnicity
Steinfeld was born to her parents Peter Steinfeld and Cheri Domasin. Her father is a fitness expert and a personal trainer while her mother is an interior designer.
The Dickinson star has an older brother, Griffin, who is a NASCAR driver.
As for her ethnicity, Steinfeld opened up about it during a 2016 interview with Pep.ph.
"So, my grandpa is half-Filipino. My mom's dad. He's my great-grandfather who came from Bohol."
According to Nicki Swift, her maternal grandfather was also half African-American. Her maternal grandmother was part English, German, Scots-Irish/Northern Irish, and Scottish.
Her father, on the other hand, is Ashkenazi Jewish.
Hailee Steinfeld's Relationship with Parents
Steinfeld is very close with her parents and she doesn't shy away from expressing her love towards them.
When the Coronavirus pandemic first started, the actress quarantined with her entire family.
At that time, she shared it was a pleasant break for her. She reasoned she hadn't had such a gap ever since she started working when she was 13.
"I've never given myself the opportunity to reflect and appreciate how far I have come," she said in retrospect of her success and busy lifestyle.
And part of her busy lifestyle has to do with her mother pushing her towards her goal.
She first developed an interest in acting and modeling after being inspired by her cousin when she was eight years old.
Steinfeld asked her mom if she could sign up with a modeling agent and inquired about acting. Cheri agreed but made her daughter study acting for a year so that she would stay consistent with it.
The True Grit actress and her mom also opened up about their relationship during a Q&A session with Allure.
When sharing their favorite memory with each other, her mom said it was when Steinfeld was born.
As for the 'Love Myself' hitmaker, she answered she had trouble selecting a particular memory.

Eventually, she settled for her memory of the day she, her mom, and her brother went on a walk sometime after she auditioned for True Grit.
She noted a plane flew over their heads and she told her mom they were going "somewhere big."
Steinfeld shared she said it because her mom loved traveling but hadn't been able to travel much after having her brother and her.
And though her words were said with little reason at the time, it did come true as Cheri travels a lot as her daughter's manager now.
Steinfeld is also incredibly close with her brother and has often referred to him as her best friend in several Instagram posts.
