Eugenio Derbez Talks about Bonding with Kids While Filming ‘De Viaje Con Los Derbez’
Eugenio Derbez and his family are THE family to watch in the Spanish-speaking television entertainment. He, his wife Alessandra Rosaldo, and his kids are the stars of their reality show, De Viaje Con Los Derbez.
The series showcases the family's day-to-day and how they cope with one another. In early 2021, the show's second season came out, and it depicted the family's time in the US.
They were seen traversing the northwestern US, learning to survive in the wild. This meant they had to be around one another all the time.
The season was a learning and bonding experience for Eugenio's family. He got to see his kids gel together and learn about them from up close.
Eugenio Derbez Learned about His Kids
The filming for the season took them to the beautiful states of Idaho, Wyoming, and Montana. They got to spend time in Yellowstone National Park and Glacier National Park.
It was an intimate experience for the family who traveled together in an RV throughout the trip.
While talking to Hola! in May 2021, Eugenio revealed what he learned about his kids during the trip.
"That I should have been more strict," the reality star joked. But he then provided a serious answer.
He saw that his kids, who grew up and were raised apart, got along really well. He guessed that might have been because of his teachings.
"I think I taught them not to take anything personally and to always see life with comedy," he said. They were always kidding around, and that helped them get along easily.
The children, too, learned things about one another and their parents.
"[I] think we got a deeper connection, everybody," his daughter Aislinn said during the interview with Hola!
His son, actor Jose Eduardo, learned about his dislike of nature. "I would not survive one hour in the wilderness," he said, even though he was a great woodchopper.
Vadhir, his second child, was the opposite of his brother. He loved nature and was also the "expert nature survivor" of the family. Jose Eduardo even said Vadhir could fish and "kill a bear and stuff."
Both the brothers realized that their parents had a great dynamic, and that they gave their all at their work.
Eugenio Derbez Changed His Thoughts on Fatherhood
Eugenio has four kids with four different women. He had his eldest kid, daughter Aislinn Derbez, on March 18, 1986, with former partner Gabriela Michel.
Then, on February 18, 1991, he and his then partner Silvana Prince welcomed second son Vadhir Derbez. And on April 14, 1992, Jose Eduardo Derbez came along, whom he had with his ex partner, actress Victoria Ruffo.
All three of them are established actors, taking after their father.
After three children, he had had enough of fatherhood for a while. "First of all, let me tell you, I was like, 'I'm not going to do this again.'" he confessed during a Mama Said podcast (via Hola!) in August 2019.

But, his wife Alessandra, whom he married on July 7, 2012, after an elaborate proposal, was not okay with his decision. It was a big issue for her, which made him change his mind.
"I'm loving it," he said of his changed decision and life with Atiana Derbez, his youngest daughter. She was born on August 4, 2014.
In addition to this, he is also a grandfather to Aislinn's daughter, Kai.
He now lives in Los Angeles with his wife and Atiana.
