It had been a while since fans had heard from Baywatch star Erika Eleniak.

Understandably, many are still wondering where she is today. Long story short, the actress had been dealing with many personal losses while the world was bunkered down for the pandemic.

As if that was not enough, today, Eleniak faces a health crisis and is in constant agonizing pain.

Credit where credit is due, Eleniak assured fans she was taking the necessary steps to get her healthy life back, on both physical and mental fronts. 

What Is Erika Eleniak Doing Now?

During an appearance on Laura Cain After Dark podcast, Eleniak shared how last year — the year 2021 — had been especially difficult for her. 

The entire world suffered quite a lot these last two years, no thanks to the terrible viral infection that swept the world. 

But in that same time frame, Eleniak lost both her mother and her stepfather. 

"I lost my freaking best friend in the world. I lost my mom," she shared. "I lost her a year ago, February." 

During her mother's final days, Eleniak was the primary caretaker. 

"That was a lot," she confessed. "I can't even ... there are no words [to describe it] so I will not even try." 

Less than two months after, the actress lost her stepfather. 

"I had a lot of other things going on in my family, very personal, a Lot of darkness; a lot of hard stuff," she went on. "A lot. A lot. Alot." 

Erika Eleniak's Health Struggles

Mere days had passed since her time on the podcast, and on February 28, 2022, the Baywatch star gave fans another grim update over a video on Instagram. 

In the clip, she informed everyone watching that she had to undergo back surgery in the near future. 

"It feels like one wave after another has been hitting us over here," she shared. "Just been a lot of mental challenges and a lot of physical challenges and so much grief and so much loss."

She was just about recovering from all of her mental state and getting her mojo back when she had intense back pain. 

So, she had it looked at. 

Turns out, an entire chunk of her spinal disc was dislocated and was sitting right on top of a nerve. 

Erika Eleniak's Strength

"No victims here. Just gonna get it handled," a visibly tired Eleniak sighed.

She also shared that she was about to see a therapist to deal with everything that had been shoved onto her plate. 

Despite all that she'd been through, she was still optimistic about things and even endorsed getting help if and when you need it. 

"There is no shame in getting help," she pushed.
