Darius Slay’s Wife Jennifer Slay Helped Him Mature as a Person and a Player

Darius Slay is happily married to his wife, Jennifer Slay, and the couple jointly shares four kids.

Darius and his wife are biological parents to their daughter Desirae Slay, born in February 2017.

While the football star has two sons — Darion Slay and Demetrius Darius Slay — from his past relationships, Jennifer is a mother to her son Trent Slay from a different partner.

Darius's wife experienced motherhood for the first time when she was eighteen.

But unfortunately, concrete information regarding their past affair and the whereabouts of their respective partners isn't available as of this writing.

Darius became a father for the first time while a freshman at high school.

The NFL cornerback was informed by his girlfriend regarding her pregnancy. In his recollection, Darius confessed he "freaked out" upon hearing the news.

Darius Slay's Experience as a Single Father

Darius was burdened with keeping his school life, early football career, and fatherhood in balance as a teenager.

Fortunately, his mother, Stephanie Lowe, was by his side, helping and supporting him in raising his eldest son, Darion.

"My mom helped me a lot, but it was a difficult time," Darius told NFL Films during an exclusive conversation.

The player continued saying he made a lot of sacrifices for his son by being there for him after school, while he wished he could go outside and hang out with his friends.

His parental responsibility nearly made Darius quit football forever, potentially throwing away his chance of making a name for himself in the NFL.

However, the player shared how wise advice and inspiration from his mother made him drop the idea.

Mother knows best, as it is widely considered and rightly so, given that Darius had a stellar career in college football.

His significant rise in sports prompted the Detroit Lions to make him their second-round draft pick in 2013.

During the career-defining NFL draft, the football player was accompanied by his loving mother, godparents, grandma, and son Darion.

Darius Slay's Relationship History with Wife

Darius met Jennifer on Instagram, and they became a couple after exchanging a series of messages in 2015.

For their first date, the pair attended an Oklahoma City Thunder game and went to eat afterward.

The year after, the football player was vocal regarding how his then-girlfriend helped him mature as a person and a player.

"I have been around a lot of mature guys, happily married men," Darius noted, saying he needed to do the same thing to have some stability in his life.

Darius called Jennifer a stress reliever and said she took great care of his firstborn by looking after him and taking care of his school's homework.

He dated his wife for three years before eventually exchanging his vows on June 16, 2018, during a private ceremony hosted in his hometown of Brunswick.

In 2021, Darius celebrated his third wedding anniversary with his wife, Jennifer.

The football star took to his official Instagram account and posted a picture of himself with Jennifer to mark the occasion.

In the caption, Darius called Jennifer an "amazing, beautiful lady," appreciating her contributions to their family.
