Who Is Clea DuVall’s Partner? Inside Her Low Profile Married Life

Clea DuVall, the director of the holiday rom-com Happiest Season, is openly lesbian. She reportedly came out of the closet publicly in 2016.

The award-winning actress is also committed to narrating LGBT stories to her audiences. 

Doing that, she wrote and directed 2020’s rom-com Happiest Season, which became the first major entry in the genre to feature a same-sex couple.

Speaking with The Atlantic, DuVall said the film, starring Kristen Stewart and Mackenzie Davis, draws inspiration from her own holiday memories.

This includes her accidental coming out to her mother in the middle of a fight on Christmas Day.

The actor-turned-writer is unapologetically open about her sexuality and is willing to “crash the thoroughly straight, thoroughly mainstream genre of holiday films” with queer films.

However, she is still secretive about her partner with whom she is currently married.

Clea DuVall Says She Is a Happily Married Woman

During the previous conversation with The Atlantic in December 2020, DuVall revealed — probably for the first time in public — that she was a married woman and was in a happy marriage with her partner.

She iterated, “When we made But I’m a Cheerleader, I was 21 and very closeted. I was so happy to be in the movie and loved it so much, but there was also the side of me that was so scared.”

She talked about the time she was not public about her orientation and was scared to come out.

She expressed that she is now in a very comfortable place in life about her identity. 

The director stated, “To end up in this place where I am now, a 43-year-old happily married woman who is so comfortable with myself...That journey was one that was not always easy.”

However, she confirmed her relationship status without revealing the details of her partner and keeping her marriage details private.

Reports Suggest Clea DuVall’s Partner Is Mia Weier

Even though DuVall has not confirmed her partner’s identity, several online tabloids report that the actress’ partner is Mia Weier, a model and film producer.

Most of the online reports are based on DuVall and Weier’s occasional sightings in public together.

For instance, the alleged couple attended An Evening with Women event benefiting the Los Angeles LGBT Center at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles on May 16, 2015.

The two again walked down the red carpet of the same event, held at the same venue, in 2017.

DuVall and Weier also graced the Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards at The Shrine Auditorium in consecutive years in 2017 and 2018.

In the latter event, both of them wore suits — the actress wore a black suit with a white shirt while her alleged wife sported a white suit with a black shirt.

In addition, there are several fan pages on social media, including @bestofclea on Twitter, that regularly post pictures of the two together.

All that hints at DuVall and Weier being a couple. However, we will still wait for any one of them to confirm the details.
