Christopher David Noth or Chris Noth has appeared in many critically acclaimed dramas and movies. 

He rose to prominence as Detective Mike Logan on the original Law & Order (1990), where he spent five seasons before moving on to HBO’s groundbreaking series Sex and the City (1998) as Mr. Big, the unattainable bachelor who eventually came around for Carrie Bradshaw played by Sarah Jessica Parker. 

Chris Noth’s Famous Roles

His portrayal as Mr. Big had ladies swooning, and he even earned his first Golden Globe nomination for Best Actor in a Comedy. While the series centered on Bradshaw and her pals, her tumultuous relationship with Mr. Big became a central point.

It eventually launched two blockbuster movies, Sex and the City (2008) and Sex and the City 2 (2010), which he starred in. After that, Noth moved on from playing Mr. Big to starring as the charismatic and powerful but flawed Peter Florrick on the CBS hit drama The Good Wife (2009).

Noth’s stellar performance earned him a second Golden Globe nomination for Best Actor but this time in a Drama, as well as two SAG nominations for Best Ensemble. 

Naturally, fans of Noth’s Mr. Big and Florrick have perpetually wondered, “who is Chris Noth married to?”

Chris Noth’s Wife and Kids

Noth has been married to his wife, Tara Lynn Wilson, since 2012. 

Before Wilson, Noth had a few girlfriends including Beverly Johnson but nothing materialized until he met Wilson. 

Wilson was born in Vancouver, British Columbia, and moved to New York City at a very young age. She pursued acting and graduated from the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. Some of her acting credits include Law & Order: Criminal Intent (2001), Piñero (2001), and Frame of Mind (2009). 

She was also crowned Miss West Virginia In 2000.

Noth met Wilson in 2002 when she was working as a bartender at his club lounge, The Cutting Room in New York City. Despite the 27 year age gap, the two hit it off. While Noth is of German, Irish, and English descent, his wife’s ethnicity is African American-Filipino. 

During an interview with Wall Street Journal, Noth revealed that he actually got racist hate mails about dating someone of different ethnicity. 

When I was in a play on Broadway two years ago, I’d occasionally get letters of outrage, usually from somewhere in Alabama or something, saying y’know, ‘Don’t come down here with your wife.

It is also one of the reasons why Noth prefers to keep his family life relatively private.

The couple shares two children together — 13-year-old son Orion Christopher, and baby Keats Noth, whom they welcomed last February Noth often shares glimpses of his life with his wife and kids on Instagram. His Instagram is littered with adorable pictures of his family from their summer homes and vacation trips.

It appears Noth is very much a family man.
