Charlize Theron has been in showbiz for over 25 years, and in all those years, she has starred in and produced fantastic works of fiction on the silver screen. 

The actress has admitted to having taken plastic surgery, namely a facelift, into consideration. However, she has also clarified that it was a fleeting thought—not one she would actively pursue. 

Charlize Theron Accepts Changes Come with Age 

In 2012, as the actress was doing a press tour for Snow White and the Huntsman, she sat down to chat with Interview Magazine, where she explained how she perceived her appearance. 

She claimed to be grateful that her mother instilled in her from an early age that beauty and appearance had nothing to do with her moral compass and achievements. In her perception, they were distinctly apart. 

However, Theron could not deny that the industry, the career she had pursued, was somewhat superficial in that regard. In Hollywood, her appearance meant a lot. 

On the flip side, aging was a natural process that everyone was subject to, and Theron understood that, too. She added,

Charlize Theron Had Not Considered Plastic Surgery

Until then, she had not considered the option of getting plastic surgery done. 

She was still in her mid-thirties. Still, she was wise enough to admit that she was not sure what the future might hold. 

"Maybe it's different when you're in your mid-sixties," she admitted, "I don't know, so I don't want to make statements about where I'm gonna be in 30 years. But as of right now, I definitely have a different relationship with the way I look."

In another interview with InStyle in 2018, the actress revealed that her stance towards plastic surgery had not changed all that much.

Having been brought up in a melting pot like South Africa, Theron considered herself fortunate enough to have witnessed beauty in different cultures, shapes, sizes, and complexions. She understood that beauty was not one thing. 

On that note, she also admitted that one's perception of their appearance was dynamic, ever-changing. 

Plastic Surgery Was A Passing Thought

Some days, Theron stood in front of the mirror with nothing but love for the way she looked. She did not have any issues with the wrinkles around her mouth or eyes. 

Other days, she was not sure. These were the days that she considered getting plastic surgery done. Still, she was at peace with the thought. 

And that’s OK. It doesn’t mean I don’t want to age. The more we can understand that it’s normal and part of the process, the more we’ll take the pressure off. Be kind to yourself. Take every day for what it is, and that’s it.

While it is advised to take Hollywood's word on plastic surgery with a pinch of salt, there have not been drastic changes in Theron's appearance over the years. 

Rest assured, Theron has not had any cosmetic procedures done on her, but it is not something that is off the table for the coming years.
