Cameron Mathison has always successfully juggled his career and Hollywood and his family life. But this accomplishment is not just his.

His wife, Vanessa Arevalo, has had an equal, if not greater, hand in keeping their marriage and family together. She made a lot of sacrifices for her husband and kids.

Mathison knows this, and he is often very appreciative of his former model wife.

How Cameron Mathison and Wife Vanessa Arevalo Kept the Family Together

Having a family wasn't even near the top priority for Mathison and his wife when they first met. They were both incredibly busy in their careers.

However, one day, Arevalo talked about how she felt like she was put on Earth to be a mother. And that sped up their relationship's progress.

They tied the knot on July 27, 2002, and their family became a family of three the next year and a family of four in 2006.

When Arevalo first became a mother, she had an identity crisis. A successful model at the time, her priorities changed immediately, and it threw her off a bit.

It took a year for her to find her rhythm with things, but she did, and Mathison helped when he could.

But Mathison still had a busy schedule with everything he was involved in. He was on Dancing With The Stars from 2007 to 2009 and hosted I Wanna Be a Soap Star from 2005 to 2007.

These two, along with his other jobs after and before these, kept him extremely busy and travelling all the time. He mostly had to be in Los Angeles for these two in particular.

"That really does require a bit of maneuvering of the family," Arevalo told People in 2008. But, unwilling to mess up the family dynamic, they chose not to be separated for long periods of time.

So, when he was hosting, she would take her son out of school for that period and be with Mathison.

Dancing With The Stars made things much more difficult. As it was long, she would just travel back and forth from Los Angeles every week while keeping the kids at home.

"I didn't want to uproot the family and I wanted to be home as much as possible, because Cameron wasn't there for those three months. But I also wanted to be there to support Cameron on the night of the dancing," she said of those days.

However, they did not have a set formula for keeping things stable. "When things come up we just kind of figure it out, there's no formula, we just roll with the punches. You just have to be so flexible," she added.

Mathison was still a "super dad" as he was very hands-on with the kids whenever he was around.

Cameron Mathison and Wife Vanessa Arevalo's Marriage

Mathison and Arevalo first met on November 13, 1998, at a gym. But they did not hit it off until a while later.

They took their sweet time to go out on their first date, but they did and became quite inseparable just a year later.

The couple started dating but were living on opposite coasts. It was only in 2000 that they finally fell in love.

She told him she would take a month off work to go on a ski trip. He met her on her trip to the Squaw Valley ski resort that year, and they fell for each other.

Then came their wedding, on July 27, 2002, which he celebrates each year with incredibly sweet captions on Instagram.

On April 20, 2003, their firstborn son, Lucas Arthur Mathison, was born. And on July 7, 2006, their daughter Leila Mathison came into the world.

His kids are all grown up now. Lucas started college, and Leila started her 10th grade around August 2021.

Mathison still makes sure he spends as much time as possible with his kids when he can and documents all of those moments on Instagram.
