Alex Morgan Took Inspiration from Jessica Simpson’s Wedding for Her Own
Alex Morgan and Servando Carrasco got married on New Year's eve in 2014.
The soccer power couple held their "Rustic Romantic" wedding in front of 180 guests at Rancho Dos Pueblos in Santa Barbara, California, after an engagement in December 2013.
Alex Morgan's Wedding Was Inspired by Jessica Simpson's
Speaking about the wedding to various outlets before the actual ceremony, the US woman's soccer gold medalist outed that most of her wedding ideas were derived from reading magazines, experiencing friends’ weddings as a guest, and taking note of what they liked or didn’t like.
Still, there were a few weddings that Morgan had attended or read about that influenced her own wedding more than others. For instance, during an interview with The Knot, the soccer star revealed that they drew inspiration from Jessica Simpson's wedding. She explained,
All of [Simpson's] bridesmaids dresses had such gorgeous details. I loved that her bridesmaids all wore different gowns in similar shades and palettes.
Alex Morgan Was Kara Keough's Bridesmaid
In the same interview, she also talked about how one of the more recent nuptials she had witnessed was that of Real Housewives of Orange County star Kara Keough. In fact, Morgan was one of Keough's bridesmaids.
Although Morgan was recovering from an ankle injury, she didn't turn down the opportunity. She made it to the wedding wearing an ankle cast and a flat shoe. Still, she described the wedding as an incredible event.
"Her wedding was incredible; she's such a great person," Morgan told the outlet, "Everyone had an amazing time, and her wedding definitely helped inspire my own."
A Magical Wedding!
Well, Morgan's nuptials were no less. After the wedding, she gave People an exclusive statement claiming that the entire wedding was fantastic. She said,
To be surrounded by our family and friends tonight in such a beautiful location, and on New Year s Eve to boot, has just been magical.
She also shared that she was overjoyed, grateful, and excited to start her new life with her husband, who is also a professional soccer player.
Celebrating Into the Next Year
For the actual ceremony, the bride wore a beautiful gown by Berta Bridal, then switched into a custom Amsdale dress for the reception, where the pair danced to Jack Johnson’s “Better Together.”
As for the groom, he kept things simple with an Armani tuxedo. The wedding had two signature cocktails on the menu: a Moscow mule and an authentic Cadillac margarita.
Keeping the groom's Mexican heritage in mind, the food menu offered a Mexican-American dinner that was served family-style and included a quesadilla bar and homemade churros.
In the entertainment department, the celebrations went on through the night and into the new year with a band starting things off, followed by a DJ to keep the music going. The festivities also included a balloon drop come midnight.
The soccer power couple has since welcomed a little baby girl into the world. Morgan birthed her first child, Charlie, on May 7, 2020. The soccer mom is often seen flaunting her little angel on her social media posts.
