Born on 30 October 1973 to a Jewish family Maggie Lindsey Haberman graced into the world as the daughter of Clyde Haberman and Nancy Haberman. Her father was The New York Times journalist while her mother was a media communications executive at Rubenstein Associates.

She attended Ethical Culture Fieldston School and later graduated from Sarah Lawrence College with a bachelor’s degree.
