Robert Jeffress is Senior Pastor of the First Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas. He is the one who led more than $135 million worth of reconstruction of the First Baptist Church of Dallas with a state of the art Christian Campus. 

The downtown campus is the largest project in modern church history and the official site of both First Dallas and Pathway to Victory states that the firm serves as a “spiritual oasis." 

Around more than 64 years ago, Jeffress was born in a religious family who would introduce him to their religious way of living.

Robert Jeffress Claims that God Spoke to Him

In his sermons, interviews, and books, the Dallas native has had also claimed that God has spoken to him, three times in his life. According to him, the first time he felt God calling him to the ministry was between his freshman and sophomore years.

Similarly,  it happened again for the second time when he was pursuing his B.S degree at Baylor University, He claims that God told him that he would one day become the senior pastor at First Baptist Dallas during that time.

 And the last time, God spoke to him, he says felt it was very personal. Because of that, he had decided to not talk about it with anyone.

Jeffress Earned Experiences before Joining First Baptist Church Dallas

When Robert Jeffress was 29, he was appointed as the pastor of First Baptist Church in Eastland, Texas. He spent seven years there from the year 1985 to 1992. Afterward, he was called to become the pastor at First Baptist Church of Wichita Falls, where he stayed for 15 years.

On August 12, 2007, Robert was finally elected as the senior pastor of First Baptist Church in Dallas from among 150 preachers across the entire country. He is now 64 years of age as of October 2020.

Jeffress Overlooked the $135 Million Reconstruction

The planning for the re-construction of First Baptist Church of Dallas began in 2008. Over the course of five years, over $135 million were used to expand and recreate the church originally built in 1890.

Fox 4 News described the undertaking as a marriage between an old church and new technology. Upon completion in 2013, the church was equipped with pews that seated 3000 people, walls with LED strips that can be turned into one million different color combinations, 220 seat choir, 50 pit orchestra pit that goes up and down.

There are even four floors for children and a fountain with 27 jets of water that is synchronized to music.

Robert Jeffress Parents Introduced Him to First Baptist Dallas

Robert Jeffress (full name: Robert James Jeffress Jr.) was born on November 29, 1955, in Dallas, Texas. Both his parents were a member of First Baptist Dallas and he grew up within the walls of this church. Within a week of his birth, his father flew to Chicago and bought back more than $200 worth of Christian books for the newborn.

Jeffress Jr. became a Christian when he was five years old and spent his childhood under the guidance of Pastor Dr. W.A.Criswell.
