Born on 17 July 1960 in New York City to an artist mother, Nancy Giles had acting genes transferred from her mother.

She is the daughter of Thomas Jefferson Giles and mother Dorothy Aileen who was an artist and a teacher. She got inspiration from her mother to take her passion.

In her early days, Nancy was a member of the Second City Touring Company. Not just that, she also did a 1985 Broadway musical Mayor. 

After starring in two ABC television series China Beach and Delta, she was able to make herself a household name in the states.

Her career, however, failed to kick off after the series and has been primarily limited to guest roles on shows like The Jury, Spin City, and Law & Order.
