Born in 1960 in New York City, USA as James Philip Rubin, he is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Rubin of Larchmont. James' father served as the president of Pindar Press, a New York magazine company.
James' mother Judith Rubin works at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx, where she is assigned to train students specializing in psychiatry to conduct interviews.
James has an impressive education based background. He earned Bachelor of arts degree in Political Science from Columbia University in 1982. After graduation, he continued his master degree in the international affair at Columbia University and completed it in 1984.
