Devale and Khadeen Ellis are the owners and stars of the hugely popular YouTube vlogging channel The Ellises. The couple’s lovely relationship and their children are the channel's main attraction, along with the family's comedy skits and lifestyle content.

They are one of the best celebrity couples out there, if not the best. But where and how did their relationship begin? Know that and more about The Ellises and how the family functions as a whole.

Devale And Khadeen First Met in 2002

Devale and Khadeen, both now 36, were very young when they first met each other. The college sweethearts have been together for 18 years since their first encounter as of November 2020.

They first ran into one another at Hofstra, the USA on October 3, 2002. According to how Khadeen described the event on her Instagram post on October 4, 2020, he “scooped” her up from there.

This time 18 years ago, he scooped me up from Hofstra USA.

After hanging out for a while, they ended up talking like old friends for hours. She said that she felt a connection with him that she could not deny.

We hung out and talked for HOURS. Just like old friends. The connection undeniable.

Further, Khadeen also expressed her feelings about how that day changed her life.

10.03.02 This day changed my entire life and will forever be so so special to me. Love you endlessly my forever boyfriend @iamdevale Thrilled to experience many more moments with you!

The Couple Dated for Eight Years Before Getting Married

Devale and Khadeen stayed together and built things up for eight years before finally deciding to tie the knot. Their wedding was held on July 5, 2010.

Marriage celebrates the bonding of two souls but also the binding of two families. And in this case two starkly different families in terms of culture although we appear to be very similar— But one thing connected us very well, and that was our parent’s unyielding dedication to family, principles and legacy building. Our parents dedicated their lives to their children. That foundation cemented a yearning in Khadeen and I to find someone with the same mindset and do the same. So today on our 10 year wedding anniversary I want to thank our parents for being the ever present role models for Kay and I to aspire to be. You all inspire us in ways you will never understand by continuing to show up EVERY SINGLE DAY— flaws and all, because as people we all have them. I love you guys. . Sidebar... Only Kay would let me honor Michael Jackson with the loafers and white socks on our wedding day.💪ðŸÂ¾ I LOVE YOU WOMAN!!! . #DevalesTruth #TheEllises #TheJosephs #10Years #BuildAnEmpire #LeaveALegacy #MillennialMarriage

Ten years later, they are still happy as they were on their wedding day. They celebrated their 10th anniversary on July 5, 2020, and had separate messages for each other while posting the same video.

Both of them posted a video on their Instagram, which began with a sweet message from Devale to Khadeen for their anniversary. That was followed by a beautiful song by Jaime Foxx, composed just for the occasion.

Khadeen began her message to her husband by saying that they had other plans for their 10th anniversary, but the pandemic had ruined those. But it still couldn’t stop them from having a special day.

So y’all know we had other things in store for our 10 year anniversary. Plans changed due to the pandemics; the world stopped— but NOTHING has or was going to interrupt this love we have.

Then, she said that the two had walked down the aisle with a rendition of “When I First Saw You” by Beyonce and Jamie Foxx playing in the background.

I walked down the aisle this time ten years ago to @beyonce and @iamjamiefoxx ‘s rendition of “When I First Saw You” sung by 2 good friends. Over the years, coupled with Jamie being one of our favorite artists EVER, @iamdevale has coined another Jamie Foxx song as “his song for me”.

After that, she poured out her heart for Devale and expressed her gratitude for the life she had with him.

Devale Ellis...YOU! 😩ðŸ˜ÂðŸ˜ Not sure what I’ve done to deserve you. Thank you for this beautiful life. Thank you for our beautiful boys. Thank you for this beautiful moment. Everything else I have to say, I will share with you and you alone, as we relish in this milestone together uninterrupted and unplugged (after this post of course).

As for Devale’s wish, it was much more straightforward. He began by complimenting her on all that she was for him.

This woman is special and she’s all mine. That’s all I gotta say about that! This decade flew by because we had fun the whole way. There aren’t enough words in the dictionary or enough money on the planet that can eloquently express how you make me feel so I vow to spend the rest of my life making all your dreams come true. The greatest gift a man can give is proof that he is listening and paying attention to detail constantly.

He ended the message by thanking Jaime Foxx for helping him make the day so special with his song.

The Secrets to Their Happy Marriage and Family

There are a few things that Devale Ellis and Khadeen Ellis do regularly that keep their family gelled together. They both put the utmost importance on their children and their parents.

Speaking to the New York Times in July 2020, Khadeen said, “If there’s one thing people can take away from what we’ve displayed on social media, it is how much we love and care for our family.”

According to the couple, some alone time for just the two of them is as important as their love for the family. They have three children who are all under 10 years of age, so finding alone time can be hard. But they do manage to find some here and there and make the most of it.

People always ask if a woman can have it all but never ask if a man can be all.🤔 . Can women have it all? Why is this so complex? As a man can I provide and protect while giving her the latitude to prosper and progress? Yes! Her purpose does not threaten my manhood. Proof that a woman does not have to sacrifice chivalry to gain equality like many will suggest. It’s not that deep. Being a gentleman is just a matter of respect. Speaking of which, before I go on... Being gentle is extremely manly, so please don’t take this wrong... Women are very delicate, but not like flowers... More like bombs! She can be dynamite if you treat her right. Create a life you won’t forget. But love is a seed, and a flower wont ever grow from neglect. Men have evolved, we can be both subtle and direct. So can a woman have it all? The answer is definitely yes! . WE as men just gotta take the necessary steps. . #DevalesTruth #TheEllises #BestFriends #Lovers #Parents #BusinessPartners #RaisingKings #ChivalryIsNotDead #ProtectHer #EmpowerHer #EmbraceHer #LoveHer #GiveHer #18YearFriendship #Almost10YearsMarried #ForeverToGo #MillennialMarriage

Another thing that keeps them together and happy is doing activities together, especially grilling and making food. “When we moved to L.A., for the first time, I had an opportunity to have my own grill and my own space in the yard to be able to feed my family,” said Devale.

Their children, too, play a part in their happiness as a couple. They homeschool their children and help them in their studies.
