Carol Kane's life has been devoid of men after her mother's separation from her father at the age of 12. She has, however, managed to find love albeit in an unconventional way.

The 66-year old's finest moments came in the 70s and 80s where her acting skills received massive praises esp. for her series TAxi and movie Hester Street. Furthermore, she has continued to make her presence felt due to her works in series American Dreamer in the 90s and more recently Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.

After attending the Professional Children's School, in New York City she got her first taste of acting in theatre in 1966. Her TV career stater after she appeared in American comedy series, Carnal Knowledge as Jennifer in 1971. After the debut, she has starred in innumerable television series and movies. Carol portrayed the character of evil headmistress, Madame Morrible in 2005 musical Wicked until 2009.

Her acting credit also includes her performance in theatres, some of them being in Love, Loss (2010), The Children's Hour (2011) and  Harvey (2012). Her recent work is the dark comedy series, The Sisters Brothers, which is set to release in 2018.

For her role in the 1980s series Taxi, Carol won two Emmy awards both as a leading and supported actress.  For her role in 1975 romantic movie, Hester Street she was nominated for the prestigious Academy Awards.

Her alluring on-screen performance has not only won her multiple awards and millions of fans, but she also has been rewarded financially. Her time in Hollywood has seen her earn an astonishing amount of income from her acting career and enjoys an estimated net worth of $5 million.

Carol was born as Carolyn Laurie Kane at Elaine Joy in Cleveland, on 18 June 1952. Her Jewish family consisted of an architect father, Michael Myron Kane and a jazz singer and pianist mother. Her family had roots tracing back to Russia. Her grandparents were Russian immigrants.

Carol Kane's parents separated when she was 12, and the divorce between her parents left her with a sour taste of men. Being raised up by a single mom, she had a man-shaped void in her life in the absence of her father in her personal life.

Simka Gravas the on-screen Carol Kane in her acclaimed series Taxi resembles Carol in many ways. Simka is an immigrant; Carol was born into a family of immigrants. Simka is an abrasive married woman, who is at a constant upheaval with her husband Latka Gravas(Andy Kaufman).

This is where Carol differs from Simka; Carol is a soft-spoken lady who has never married.

Despite not marrying she did had a taste of romantic relationships after dating actor Woody Harrelson in the mid-1980s. Woody confirmed that they had indeed dated in an interview in 1988. He described his relationship with Carol as friendship which turned romantic which returned to friends again.

The experience with Woody must have left Carol with a bad taste about men, which could explain the fact that she has never had an affair after that. 

These days, the veteran actress is in love with her dog and the Manhattan. She describes herself as a perfect New Yorker and her mother as her favorite NY based person. 

As of now, Carol remains free of the married tag and busy entertaining her fans through movies and television series, and being a perfect New Yorker.
