His father is a professor whereas his mother is a director. He attended Claremont Secondary School.

At the age of four, in awe of Macaulay Culkin’s performance in Home Alone, Calum decided that he wanted to become an actor. Subsequently, he began training to dance and began performing in plays and musicals at the age of 5.
