Flex Alexander and his wife Shanice have been married for over 21 years. In their long relationship, the actor and his singer wife have gone through a lot of challenges together, including an eviction that turned their life upside down.

However, the challenges they have faced only brought them closer together. Both Alexander and Shanice say they are still learning in their relationship and expressed how excited they were at the thought of spending the future years together.

Here are some things to know about Alexander and his family.

Married After 4 Months Of Dating

Alexander and Shanice started dating towards the end of 1999. Shanice shared a story from their first date with WHUR on the occasion of her 18th marriage anniversary.

Shanice revealed she wasn’t aware that Alexander was broke.

They were accompanied by Alexander's cousin during their first romantic outing. And it was only later that she learned the cousin had covered the bill for the date.

However, Alexander’s poor finances didn’t turn out to be a problem for the two and they got married on February 14, 2000, just four months after they started dating. A year into their marriage, the duo welcomed their first child, daughter Imami Knox on August 31, 2001.

Alexander and Shanice expanded their family once again on March 5, 2004, when they gave birth to son Elijah Knox. During an interview with Vibe, Alexander revealed that he and his wife were done with babies. He also shared what he learned from his long marriage.

Growth. I would say growth because if there’s anybody that I’ve seen grow is her… It has really taught me to listen more. I just want to grow some more, and we’ve got more fun to have and love to have. We’re done with the babies though.

Back in April 2019, Shanice took to Instagram to celebrate her daughter Imami going to prom. She shared a picture of Imami alongside her date and congratulated her for getting a 4.0 grade point average.

Imami is following in her parents’ footsteps and is both an actress and singer. She has acted in two shorts — 26 Candles (2017) and Aaliyah Rose & Lela B: Rockin Around The Christmas Tree (2017). She has also appeared in Unsung, a TV series documentary.

Evicted In 2010

Alexander made a name for himself in the entertainment industry with his breakout role of Mark Washington in One on One (2001-2006). As he found himself in increasingly prominent roles, he started investing in real estate. Unfortunately, it didn’t go well, and he was evicted from his home in 2010 after going bankrupt.

It was a real estate crash. We bought a lot of property so that the hard times came along and I continued to try and hold on to that property and pull from savings. Real estate was a great way to attain wealth, and it was something I wanted to pass down to our family and our kids.

Shanice and Alexander shared the story of their bankruptcy on the Oprah Winfrey Network show Flex & Shanice.
