Like his girlfriend, Alwyn is also a Grammy winner. He was belatedly awarded as a co-producer for Swift’s 'Folklore,' which won album of the year at the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards on March 14.

Alwyn co-wrote two of the album’s songs with Swift — ‘Exile’ and ‘Betty.' Besides the two songs he helped co-write, he also co-produced four other songs, including ‘My Tears Ricochet’, ‘August’, ‘This Is Me Trying’, and ‘Illicit Affairs.'

William Bowery

While Alwyn and Swift collaborated on her album, they seemed to want to keep his involvement a secret as the pseudonym William Bowery was assigned to him. However, rumors saying William was Alwyn emerged soon after and Swift confirmed it on Folklore: The Long Pond Sessions.

So, William Bowery is Joe, as we know. And Joe, Joe plays piano beautifully, and he’s always just playing and making things up and kind of creating things.

During a Jimmy Kimmel interview where Kimmel and Swift talked about her albums, she revealed it was Alwyn who came up with the fake name when the chat show host inquired.

Auditioned To Play Sam In Love Actually

Alwyn studied acting at London’s Royal Central School of Speech and Drama and landed his first acting role in the 2016 movie Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk. He sent his demo tape for the screenplay adaptation of Ben Fountain’s novel of the same name. The tape impressed Ang Lee, the director, and his team greatly, thus landing him the role of Billy.

However, Alwyn’s first attempt at landing a role was 13 years prior, when he auditioned for the role of Sam in the 2003 movie Love Actually. He lost the role to Thomas Brodie Sangster.

Since his debut movie, he has appeared in a handful of movies and series including The Favourite (2018), Mary Queen of Scots (2018), Boy Erased (2018), and Harriet (2019).

Given that Alwyn had auditioned for a role at a very young age and studied acting, it seems clear that he always wanted to be an actor.
