Aubrey Plaza has tied the knot with her longtime boyfriend, director Jeff Baena. She broke the news through an Instagram post where she referred to him as “my darling husband.”

Plaza and Baena have been dating since 2011, but there had been no news of their marriage until her post on Friday March 7th. People reported that the actress’s representative confirmed their nuptial.

Plaza Has Played In Two Of Baena’s Films

During their 10-year relationship, Plaza and Baena have also worked together professionally. Their first project was the 2014 movie Life After Beth, a horror comedy starring Plaza and Anna Kendrick. The movie was Baena’s directorial debut.

The couple came together once again in 2017 to make The Little Hours. Plaza took on the producing role on top of starring in the movie. She spoke with IndieWire about her involvement with the movie.

I’ve been there from the beginning of every idea because we’re together. We’re working on it even when we’re not working on it. It just made sense… Jeff and I had to be hosting this experience together. We had to take on those leadership roles.

Baena also talked about the contributions Plaza had made on his project. On top of researching all the prayer services in the film, she also came up with the movie’s title.

Cinema Toast

Cinema Toast is Showtime’s found footage anthology created by Baena. The series had its first episode air on April 20, 2021. According to the network’s site, the anthology comprises works of various filmmakers who have re-edited and re-scored footage from public domain films and overdubbed them with performances of contemporary actors to tell new, wholly original stories.

Baena and Plaza worked together on this project while they were quarantining at home. The actress also made her directorial debut with it.

Plaza And Baena

The two have been together for a long time. They are partners not just romantically, but also professionally. And it’s precisely because of them being in the same field that Plaza says they can understand each other better.

I think that when you’re with someone that is in your field, they understand what you’re dealing with on a deeper level. So obviously you are able to support each other and really understand kind of the journey that we’re both on.

The actress further added that working together with your partner all the time could be a challenge, and it was all about finding the balance. She also shared with People that quarantine brought her and Baena closer, saying the experience of being forced in one place for a long time turned out to be a good thing.
