Selena Gomez is well-known for having multiple tattoos on her body. Many of them represent her faith or mark her relationship with friends and family.

Recently, celebrity tattoo artist Bang Bang revealed that the former Disney star had dropped by his shop on April 11, 2021, to add to her collection of body arts. Gomez got a small cross tattooed on her collarbone.

The 'Baila Conmigo singer' dropped by Bang Bang's parlor along with her friends and got the cross inked on her. She was in New York City to film her Hulu series, Only Murders in the Building

Bang Bang also revealed that Gomez wanted something bigger but ultimately settled on the small cross. The tattoo has a spiritual meaning and is a symbol of Christianity. The singer/actor spoke to Vogue about being spiritual but not religious in the past.

I'm very, very spiritual. I believe in God, but I'm not religious. I've been a Christian for a while now… I love being able to have my faith, and believe in what I believe in, and that's truly what gets me through.

Spiritual Tattoos

The cross isn't the only spiritual tattoo Gomez has on her body. In fact, Bang Bang, who has worked on Gomez multiple times, says that most of the tattoos he has given her are spiritually related.

Just before the cross, Bang Bang had inked a praying hands on her left hip bone. The intricate drawing of two hands joined in prayer is Gomez's largest tattoo.

Gomez also has the phrase “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” tattooed on her right hip. It’s taken from Phillipian 4:13, which is one of her favorite bible verses.

Aside from tattoos derived from Christian faith, the singer also has a 4-inch line of Arabic script on her back. She got this inked on her in 2014 and translates to “Love Yourself First”.

Musical Note

Gomez is extremely fond of tattoos. But what started her love for the art was her first tattoo, which she got in 2012. It’s a simple musical note that sits on the side of her wrist.

According to Elle, she got the tattoo to commemorate her career.

Tattoo For Friends And Family

Gomez also has multiple tattoos that pay homage to her friends and family. She has the Roman numerals LXXXVI etched on the back of her neck. Bang Bang, who did the work on her, told Daily Mail, “The tattoo was a tribute to a family member who she said meant a lot to her.”

The numerals translate to 76 and are thought to be a tribute to her mother, born in 1976.

Gomez has the alphabet G inked below her left ear, which according to Page Six, is for her half-sister Gracie Teefey. Aside from those two tattoos dedicated to her family, she also has the word “Sunshine,” thought to be her grandmother’s nickname, on her foot.

The singer also has multiple tattoos for her friends. She has “1” tattooed on her ribcage, which she got with her friend Courtney J Barry. She and three of her friends also got a matching tattoo of “4” to commemorate one of them turning 26.

Another matching tattoo Gomez has is an arrow on the base of her left thumb. She got it with her friend and songwriting partner, Julia Michaels. When they hold hands, the arrows point together.

Rare & Semi-Colon

On Gomez’s neck, right below her right ear, is her “Rare” tattoo. It’s a nod to her third studio album and her beauty line.

And on her wrist, the singer has a semi-colon. It refers to the suicide prevention movement called Project SemiColon. She got it with two other friends while working on 13 Reasons Why.
