Rebel Wilson Hopes for Positivity Amidst Fertility Struggles — A Recap Into Her Year for Health in 2020
On Sunday night, Rebel Wilson insinuated her struggle with fertility via an Instagram post.
The 41-year-old actress posted a picture where she is standing by the ocean and a caption that said she recently got some bad news. Not having anyone to share it with, she felt the need to tell it to someone, prompting her to make the post to her 9.8 million followers.
The post addressed and praised anyone struggling with fertility, with Wilson adamant that there's "light about to shine through all the dark clouds."
Wilson struggled quietly, but it is admirable how insistent she is on making positive affirmations to those on the same boat. Fertility complications can be painful and heartbreaking, but she handled them gracefully.
Last year, Wilson revealed her wish to improve her health after having decided to freeze her eggs.
"I was thinking about fertility and having good quality eggs in the bank, so I was like, 'OK, I'm going to do this. I'm going to get healthy,'" the Pooch Perfect star claimed.
Wilson reportedly said that 2020 was her 'year of health' where she worked on her physique and ended reaching her ideal weight of 75kg with the help of her trainer Jono Castano.
"Sometimes, I feel sad, but then at the same time, I worked my body to my advantage. I like being all sizes. It's just now turning 40, I am more health-conscious and thinking of starting a family."
She also opened up about her struggle with emotional eating and being diagnosed with polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) from a young age.
The comedian says that she has been overweight for about 20 years and that she started gaining weight when she was about 20. The hormonal imbalance caused by PCOS was how the rapid weight gain manifested in her.
It also didn't help that The Hustle star was stress eating. Wilson thinks what she mainly suffered from was emotional eating and dealing with the stress of becoming famous internationally. There is a lot of stress that is associated with it. She reckons that her way of dealing with it was simply eating a doughnut.
Wilson also insists that she has been treated differently since she shed 66 pounds. She has interestingly observed how other people treat her because being bigger meant that people didn't necessarily look twice at her.
Now that the actress is in "good shape," people offer to carry her groceries to the car and hold doors open for her. Apparently, she isn't used to this sort of chivalry that other people experience much often than her.
Wilson says that it is fascinating how people pay so much attention to a weight loss transformation when there's so much going on in the world.
She was shoved reluctantly into the limelight after changing her lifestyle, but she's kept at it through the breakups, the self-image issues and diet, and now the fertility struggle. Her refusal to let these sorrows envelope her goes to show her strength.
