Trent Reznor has cemented his legacy as a rockstar and has the resume and accolades to prove it. He even has three Oscars to his name, one of them for his work in The Social Network. However, not many people know that complimenting his love for music is his marriage to a musician.

Reznor's wife, Mariqueen Maandig, is his partner in music and in life. The fact that their love story is so low-key is a testament to how private this musical couple has kept their personal life.

Who Is Trent Reznor's Wife?

As per Yahoo! Entertainment, Maandig was brought up in Orange County, California, but she actually traces her origins back to the Philippines. Apparently, she always had an affinity for music. In her early years, she even did some musical theatre.

As the years rolled by, she decided not to pursue music as a full-time profession and resorted to becoming a fashion stylist. She even made an attempt to see her ambition through and enrolled in the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandise.

However, the curriculum did not tickle her fancy, so she opted to drop out when she saw an opening to get back into the musical scene. A friend had offered her an opportunity to join an emerging band—West Indian Girl.

She fronted the band starting 2004 and stayed till 2009. Somewhere in those years, she met the man she would go on to marry. Apparently, their relationship was brewing while she was in the band, and no one was the wiser for it.

A Private Relationship

Their relationship only made it into the public eye when they announced that they were getting engaged in 2009. Maandig resigned from her band shortly after the proposal, as did Reznor after one final show with NIN in September that same year. They would, however, go on to work on several projects together.

In October 2009, Reznor and Maandig became man and wife over a private wedding ceremony. Reports from E! suggested that the groom's bandmate Danny Lohner was present for the nuptials shot by celebrity photographer Robert Evans.

The couple is parents to five wonderful kids: Lazarus Echo, Balthazar, Nova Lux, a fourth and fifth child who has yet to make an appearance in the public eye.

Trent Reznor As a Parent

Reznor, who was once a rocker known for spilling all sorts of profanity on his tracks, had to adjust to life as a parent. He told Today that he was not looking forward to having "the birds and the bees" conversation with his kids whilst admitting that the moment would come by sooner than he'd like.

He told the outlet,

I’m now thrust into adult events — school things with other parents. You’re not really thinking about how lyrics that seemed cool at the time are going to register with parents at your kid’s school 20 years later.

He also revealed that his kids had had reasonable exposure to his resume, courtesy of their mother. While he appreciated his kids appreciating his music, he was also concerned about their exposure to profanity.

That's understandable because even he couldn't recall a song where the lyrics were child-friendly.
