Tommy Mottola Found His Happily Ever After With Wife Thalia

Tommy Mottola, the chairperson of Mottola Media Group, has been happily married to his wife Thalia, a Mexican singer-actress since 2000. 

In 2000, Mottola’s wife opened up about her career as a Latina singer and her personal life on Facebook Watch’s Latin Music Queens.

During the reality show, Thalia revealed she and Mottola met in 1998 after they were set up on a blind date by their mutual friends Gloria and Emilio Estefan.

Emilio also appeared on the show and recalled the time he set the couple up. 

“I believe a lot in destiny and I told Tommy, ‘You have to meet this girl.’ I told Thalia, ‘You have to meet this guy,’” said Emilio.

He added that the duo was important and like a family to him because they shared many incredible moments. 

Despite their age differences, Mottola and his wife hit it off and tied the knot in 2000. 

During an interview with Hola Venezuela, Thalia shared the secrets to her long-lasting marriage. 

She acknowledged that every relationship had its problems, but she and Mottola respected and loved each other and were faithful to their commitment every day.

Mottola and Thalia have two kids. 

The mother of two often shares photos of her kids from their vacations or special occasions that fans never seem to get enough of. 

Their daughter Sabrina Sakaë Mottola Sodi was born on October 8, 2007, while their son Matthew Alejandro Mottola Sodi was born on June 24, 2011. 

The singer opened up a little about her kids‘ future aspirations during a virtual interview with Chiquinquirá Delgado for Univision’s El Break de las 7.

Although Mottola and Thalia both come from the entertainment industry, the Mexican singer reckoned their kids had no interest in following their footsteps. 

“My daughter Sabrina, for example, loves anything and everything animation. She loves to draft animations, and she loves to draw, paint, create, make comics,” said Thalia. 

Thalia also revealed her daughter didn’t like being in front of the camera and preferred directing, composing, and production.

As for their son, he had already set his mind on becoming a gamer. 

But despite their kids’ interests and talents, the singer knew that they would be equally successful if they ever followed in her footsteps. 

Tommy Mottola’s Failed Marriages

Before Mottola was happily married to Thalia with their two children, he was married twice. 

The chairperson was married for the first time to former wife Lisa Clark in 1971. 

The couple divorced in 1990, after having two children, Michael and Sarah.

After Clark, Mottola married Mariah Carey in 1993, but by 1998, they were divorced. 

Since the divorce, Carey has opened up about her marriage to Mottola, stating that it was like “having a completely controlling father or warden.”

Initially, the ’Shake It Off’ singer kept mum about her time with Mottola, but all that changed when she published her memoir and bravely shared the details of her marriage to Mottola.. 

According to The New York Times, towards the end of their marriage, Mottola took a butter knife and ran it down Carey’s cheek and throat. 

Later, Mottola released his own book and apologized to Carey.
