Shia LaBeouf, renowned for his roles in Honey BoyThe Peanut Butter Falcon, Fury, and the Transformers film series, was involved in a car accident back in July 2008.

According to E! Online, the accident reportedly took place early morning in Los Angeles when the actor made a left turn. As a result, his Ford F-150 pickup allegedly struck another car and rolled over twice.

After realizing his left hand was severely injured, LaBeouf immediately rushed to nurse his wounds at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Los Angeles. He later underwent surgery for injuries to his left hand.

"He [LaBeouf] was arrested for a misdemeanor. He was booked and cited at the hospital," the LA County Sheriff Watch Commander Sgt. Scott Wolf told the publication. "No prints were taken and no photos were taken."

But since it was a case of misdemeanor, the actor was not required to pay any bail.

Sadly, Shia LaBeouf’s Finger Was Permanently Damaged

Due to the accident, LaBeouf sadly damaged the middle finger of his left hand. Speaking with Entertainment Weekly in April 2009, the 35-year-old shared that the damage was so bad that the crushed finger had no bone left in it.

When the interviewer asked about his recovery, he answered that it might only recover by 80 percent, saying,

Probably about 80-something percent. I’ll be able to make a fist again. There’s a knuckle I’ll never be able to move again, but that’s probably the only permanent damage, other than the scarring.

Shia LaBeouf Says the Accident Was Not Caused by Him

In another interview with GQ in April 2010, LaBeouf added that he lost his finger in the streets because of someone else's mistake.

He revealed that he got hit by another car when he was driving after the green light. According to him, another car ran a red light, hit his truck, flipped it, and shoveled the car in his hand.

In his own words, he described the accident, saying,

Because this accident was not caused by me. I got hit. I had a green. This [expletive] ran a red light. And he flipped my truck, and he shoveled it on my hand. And my fingers are in the street.

"They're in the street, they're off, they're under the truck door, man. This is fake, dude," he continued to say, lifting his reconstructed hand. "This is hip bone and the skin that was left over."

The actor further expressed his sadness over missing out from his work after his car accident during the conversation.

He said he had to wait two weeks to get back to work in 2009's film Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, where he played the lead character, Sam Witwicky.

LaBeouf eventually got back on the set of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen on August 14, 2008, according to E! Online. The tabloid also shared a picture where the actor was spotted with a bandage in his hand.
