Selma Blair started dating Ron Carlson, a novelist, and former college professor, in July 2017

They continued their relationship for almost a year. But for reasons unknown, the duo split in January 2018.

After almost two years, the duo rekindled their relationship, and Blair took to Instagram to announce her reconciliation with her former boyfriend.

The reconciliation, however, didn't last long. Instead, it ended up in a disturbing turn.

Selma Blair's Relationship with Ronald Carlson

On January 23, 2020, the Hellboy actress posted a picture of herself with Carlson on Instagram.

The photo featured her resting her head on her partner's shoulder with a subtle smile while Carlson looked towards the camera.

While the picture spoke volumes of their reconciliation, Blair used the caption to clarify the situation.

"People come into our lives. And sometimes they go. Or you go. And you go on," she began her lengthy write-up, referring to her initial separation with Carlson.

"And you try to put the pieces together in your mind to make sense of it. And sometimes, when you are ready, you may find that person again," the 49-year-old continued.

Heralding herself as the luckiest woman, Blair stated Carlson was the one she wanted to lean on as well as hold up. Then she ended her statement with sweet words that read, "For good. I love you @ronnniecarlson."

After the announcement, Blair was vocal about her relationship with her partner. She regularly posted his pictures on her socials.

And that's not all. The pair even public appearances once in a while.

The lovebirds were spotted taking a stroll while grabbing coffee in Los Angeles in February 2021. They were even seen enjoying a romantic lunch date at Mauro's Cafe in Los Angeles on April 2021.

But the public displays of affection slowly diminished after the pair decided to part ways.

Selma Blair and Ronald Carlson's Split

Blair and Carson split privately, but the news of their separation made headlines when the duo got embroiled in a nasty fight that saw them filing restraining orders.

On February 25, 2022, Blair filed a protective order against her ex boyfriend on charges of domestic violence.

As per the court documents obtained by People, Blair stated Carlson attacked her both physically and verbally in her Los Angeles home on February 22.

Carlson had shown up to return a TV set after their breakup. They also returned each other's house keys. But just after that, Carlson allegedly started berating her.

He reportedly called her "useless" and "cripple" before lunging at her, grabbing her by the neck, and strangling her. Blair admittedly stuck her fingers into his mouth and face for her defense.

Then he covered her mouth and face with his hands until she was unconscious. After Carlson left the property, Blair called the LA Police Department.

During the investigation, her nose bled, and she passed out. She was immediately taken to the hospital, and Carlson was arrested and was put under a 5-day protective order.

Later, Blair filed a restraining order against him and won the protection.

Carlson also filed for the restraining order, alleging that Blair was the one who was "angry and antagonistic." But the protection order was denied.

Selma Blair's Boyfriend Was Close to Her Son

Blair's boyfriend was close to her nine-year-old son, Arthur Saint Bleick.

A peek into Blair's Instagram clarified the three spend family time together.

But, most importantly, he also had an apparent good rapport with Jason Bleick, Blair's ex-boyfriend and the father of her son.

On March 17, 2021, the mother-of-one posted family pictures on Instagram, and one photo featured her son, her boyfriend, and her ex-boyfriend.

It's no surprise that Blair had a healthy relationship with Bleick; he was one of the people to support Blair after her diagnosis of multiple sclerosis in 2018.

The duo was together for two years, starting from 2010 to 2012. They welcomed their son in 2011. "We have a flexible custody arrangement and Jason is a huge part of Arthur's life," Blair told People in July 2019.

Besides Bleick, Blair was in a brief relationship with fellow actor David Lyons in mid-2020. In addition, she was married to American musician Ahmet Zappa from 2004 to 2006.
