Sarah Drew Is Relishing Motherhood with Husband Peter Lanfer — Inside Her Family Life

From a young age, Sarah Drew knew that she wanted to become an actress. At five years old, she was already acting in her school plays, and by high school, she was lending her voice to Stacy Rowe on the animated series Daria. 

She was part of Broadway production before she made her leap into TV when she landed her first major TV role playing Hannah Rogers on the popular WB series, Everwood. From there, she guest-starred on many popular series such as Mad Men, Glee, and Medium.

In 2009, she got her second big break when she was cast in a recurring role as Dr. April Kepner on ABC's award-winning series Grey's Anatomy. She played Kepner for nine years before moving on to CBS's pilot Cagney and Lacey and The Republic of Sarah.

Drew married Peter Lanfer in June 2002. On June 17, 2019, Drew uploaded an adorable photo of her and her husband in honor of their 17th anniversary. In the caption, Drew wished her husband a "Happy anniversary and Happy Father's Day." 

Although they have been married for 19 years, it appears the duo have been together much longer. 

On August 24, 2019, Drew uploaded a carousel for another anniversary post, but this time it was their "date-versary." In the caption, Drew wrote that 20 years ago, her husband had taken her out on their first date after exchanging letters, emails, and phone calls for the past eight months. 

Her husband had flown to her hometown before they took the train into Manhattan to see the Broadway show Wit. She then shared that her husband had been her "confidante, greatest cheerleader, lover, and best friend." 

She added that she had hit the jackpot and expressed she loved him dearly. 

According to UCLA's website, Drew's husband completed his Ph.D. in Hebrew Bible from UCLA in 2010 and is a lecturer at the university. 

Sarah Drew's Kids

Drew and Lanfer have two kids, a son named Micah Emmanuel, born in 2010, and a daughter named Hannah, born in 2014. 

Drew often shares photos of her children on her Instagram. On January 18, 2021, Drew uploaded a carousel of her son and wrote a heartfelt tribute in honor of her son's 9th birthday. 

She shared that her son was "hilarious, smart and inventive and loved reading and dreaming up grand extravagant plans for inventions, plays, movies, and amusement parks." She added that he was also gentle and friendly with his sister. 

Similarly, she also uploaded a heartfelt tribute for her daughter's fourth birthday in 2018. She revealed in the caption that her daughter was tender and loving one moment and feisty the next. She then added that they could not control their kids as a parent, so the next best thing was to surrender and love them wholeheartedly. 

It appears Drew has both her professional and personal life settled.
