Jamie Cullum Didn’t Think He Stood a Chance with Wife Sophie Dahl
In May 2019, singer/songwriter Jamie Cullum released an album titled Taller.
The album was a "metaphor" for his relationship with his wife, Sophie Dahl, who was much taller than the singer.
During his appearance on Jonathan Ross Christmas Show, he revealed to the host he "broke one of the laws of the universe by marrying a taller woman."
However, when he first saw his wife at a charity event, he didn't think he stood a chance with her.
He felt his wife, who was two years his senior and eight inches taller, was way out of his league.
"I just thought there was literally no chance," said Cullum.
The singer assumed "everyone who met her would fall in love with her."
At the time, his wife was living in New York, and she had a boyfriend, so the duo became nothing more than friends.
The duo had really hit it off, and Callum was blown away by her, but he didn't expect more than a friendship with her.
But six to eight months later, she moved back to England, and that's when their friendship became something else.
Who Is Jamie Cullum Married To?
For those unversed, the Jazz artist is married to Sophie Dahl, the granddaughter of famous author Roald Dahl.
The couple began dating in 2007 and were married in 2010.
Cullum has opened up about his relationship with his wife, saying, "[Dahl's] a very honest, open person and she's taught me to be more honest and open myself, just by being around her."

He added that she hugely influenced him. Speaking to Red, the singer revealed the secret to his long-lasting marriage.
He shared that loving Dahl challenged his perceptions about what it meant to live, love, and think.
Cullum, who has been married for over a decade, also spoke about the importance of "growing to meet each other" in a long-term relationship.
The singer revealed they were both huge readers and loved cooking for their friends.
And the thing he liked about her was how she was a straight talker.
He iterated that the definition of love was when one could reveal their best and worst sides and have the other person still love them.
Jamie Cullum's Children
The pair now has two children.
Their older daughter Lyra was born in 2011, while the younger daughter, Margot, was born in 2013.
After welcoming his two children, the 'All at Sea' singer shared he was privileged to be a father to his children.
Callum shared that while he was a little afraid because of the responsibility, it was a beautiful privilege to have people to share his life with.
"Getting married and becoming a father makes me see the world a lot more intensely; a lot more of the happiness," he said.
He added that having children made one think about how they wanted to live their lives and the example they wanted to set.
The 42-year-old also said having kids helped him stop over-thinking his work because he simply had no time for it.
Cullum wants to set a good example for his children, and in doing so, he worries less about what people think of him and more about what he is doing these days.
