Jameis Winston was one of the many NFL superstars forced to be cooped up in their own homes during the coronavirus pandemic in 2020. However, Winston made the most out of his downtime.

Instead of just sitting around, he married his high school sweetheart, Breion Allen Nicole, in March 2020.

Winston and his wife's journey to their wedding day was not easy, considering how the pandemic created a few difficulties along the way.

Winston and Nicole had already been planning to get married before the pandemic hit.

They had their wedding plans all laid out and the dates fixed — the wedding was initially set to happen later in 2020.

But then the pandemic came along and spoiled their plans.

However, the couple wasn't one to just give in to their predicament. Instead, they made things work with a Plan B.

Nicole went into how things fell into place on her wedding announcement on Instagram on April 6, 2020.

The post contained a picture from their intimate wedding with a long caption accompanying it. It began with the mention of their wedding date — March 27, 2020.

Remembering how their wedding week had been disappointing until everything fell into place, she wrote, "A week when nothing was going as planned."

"Our initial wedding had just been postponed and I was in a funk," she continued, providing an insight into her family's mood.

Then, Winston stepped up to the plate. He arranged everything required to have an intimate wedding in the safety and privacy of their own home.

After everything was said and done, Nicole realized it was probably fate that had something to do with the ordeal.

"And it seemed it was meant to be this way all along...," Nicole wrote at the end of her caption. And in a perfect wedding post ending, she put in #MrAndMrsWinston at the end, followed by a ring emoji.

During the vow exchange, as the attached picture showcased, Winston and his wife stood underneath a wooden archway in their pool at their Odessa, Florida home.

The mood was enhanced by the white and red rose petals and candles.

At the time, a source close to the couple told ESPN that the husband-wife duo had planned on having a bigger wedding with everyone they loved in physical attendance.

That plan doesn't seem to have materialized yet.

Jameis Winston and Wife Breion Nicole’s Relationship

Winston met Nicole while attending high school together in the Birmingham area. And it would not be too far off to speculate that it was their love for sports that made things smoother between them in the initial days.

After high school, both played college-level sports. Winston chose Florida State University to play football and baseball. Nicole, however, attended Rice University and played college basketball there.

As for now, while Winston is still pursuing a career in the NFL, Nicole has set her sights on entrepreneurship.

She is the founder of HERRWAY, a women-focused luxury activewear brand. The brand came out of her love for sports, competitiveness, active lifestyle, and body positivity.

The couple got engaged in May 2018, right before their first kid came into the world. Winston's wife gave birth to their son, Antonor Malachi Winston, two months after, on June 29, 2018.

Then, on December 31, 2020, they welcomed their second son, Taurus Allen Winston.

The family still lives in Florida, but Winston is tied to the New Orleans Saints for his NFL duties.
