Cheryl Hines Responds To Her Husband Robert F. Kennedy Jr. For Invoking Anne Frank at an Anti-vaccine Rally
Cheryl Hines is her own person!
The actress proved that in January 2022 by going against her husband, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., after his insensitive political commentary earlier that month.
Even though she has been married to Kennedy Jr. for almost a decade, she is not afraid to voice her opinions independent of what her husband might be saying in public.
Cheryl Hines Opposed Her Husband's Comments
On January 23, 2022, Kennedy Jr., at a rally against vaccine mandates, spoke his unfiltered mind in regards to the subject. He said several things against the vaccine policies in the U.S.
During his speech, he directly compared the vaccine mandates and Anne Frank and her acts to save her life during World War II.
This sparked a huge outrage on Twitter and mainstream media, who called out Kennedy Jr. for his unsavory remarks.
At the antivaxx rally in DC, RFK Jr. says that in the future "none of us can run and none of us can hide" because of Bill Gates' satellites and also 5G, unlike... the Holocaust.

The first ones to respond were the Auschwitz Memorial, who, in a tweet, termed his remarks "a sad symptom of moral and intellectual decay."
Many others, too, chimed in with their two cents, including NBC News senior reporter Ben Collins. He also called out Kennedy Jr. for things he said other than the Anne Frank comparison.
This outrage dragged Hines into the controversy, and she was forced to make a statement regarding her husband's views. In doing so, she said she did not agree with her husband.
"My husband's opinions are not a reflection of my own," she wrote in her tweet. "While we love each other, we differ on many current issues."
Another user, who directly addressed her in his tweet, asked her to agree with the notion that the horrors of the Holocaust should not be compared to anything else. He also asked her to say that her husband was wrong to make the comparison.
Yes, I agree with you. — Cheryl Hines (@CherylHines) January 25, 2022
Hines agreed with this person, too.
However, Collins, the aforementioned NBC reporter, seemed to have misunderstood Hines's tweets. He took her initial statement as a commentary on her husband's words. She responded, clarifying that was not the case.
In a later response to Collins, she explained that she was only responding to a question about if she stood with her husband on the issue. She did not.
Then, to rid the confusion, she sent out a final statement on January 25.
"My husband's reference to Anne Frank at a mandate rally in D.C. was reprehensible and insensitive," she wrote at the start of the tweet. Further, she opined that the Holocaust should not be compared to "anyone or anything."
My husband’s reference to Anne Frank at a mandate rally in D.C. was reprehensible and insensitive. The atrocities that millions endured during the Holocaust should never be compared to anyone or anything. His opinions are not a reflection of my own. — Cheryl Hines (@CherylHines) January 25, 2022
Finally, she reiterated that her husband's opinions are not a reflection of her own.
That same day, Kennedy Jr., too, apologized for his insensitive remarks referencing Anne Frank and for hurting anyone who suffered the horrors of the Holocaust. He also clarified his intentions saying he only wanted to use "examples of past barbarism" to "show the perils from new technologies of control."
