'The Challenge 36' Finale: Who Are the Winners and What’s in Store for the Next Season
After a rather intense final round, the 36th season of The Challenge came to an end; with CT Tamburello and Amber Borzotra emerging victorious.
Borzotra's win of The Challenge: Double Agents has its own significance, since not only did she win the series on her very first attempt, but it also marks an important milestone given that she is the first African-American winner of the series in a little over a decade.
The final was, no doubt, one of the most challenging of all time; not to mention the extreme conditions in Iceland, where the final season was filmed, amidst a hurricane.
This season of the series premiered back in December 2020 and had initially begun with 30 competitors.
However, after a whole host of painful eliminations as well as disqualifications, only eight managed to enter the popularity-ridden final phase of the entire season — Tamburello and Borzotra, Kam Williams and Cory Wharton, Leroy Garrett and Nany Gonzalez, and Fessy Shafaat and Kaycee Clark.
And as for the next season, a spoiler account on Twitter recently unraveled the details about season 37, including cast members and the location of the filming of the show. MTV has not yet confirmed this, but if the rumors are correct, fans can certainly expect to see many familiar faces, including more of Big Brother alums, and even some new competitors this upcoming season.
The old castmembers are making a comeback as usual, along with rookies, but this time around the veterans are more in number. Familiar faces like Nany Gonzalez, Nelson Thomas, Amanda Garcia, Nam Vo, Tori Deal, Devin Walker, Liv Jawando, Fessy Shafaat, Ashley Mitchell, Cory Wharton, Jay Starrett, Big T, Josh Martinez, Kaycee Clark, Aneesa Ferreira, and Kyle Christi, are expected to be returning to the show.
Further, we shall witness the rise of rookies like Mark Byron, Emy Alupei, Michele Fitzgerald, Ed Eason, Jeremiah White, Michelle Schubert, Kelz Dyke, CT Tamburello, Darrell Taylor, and Jordan Wiseley. These contestants have previously appeared on shows such as Love Island, Big Brother, Survivor, Too Hot To Handle, and The Circle.
According to the spoiler account, the pre-production of season 37 is underway now, with April 11 as the first day of mandatory quarantine for the entire cast. MTV is reportedly planning to accrue more cast than they need, just in case someone contracts the virus.
Though Double Agents is filmed in Iceland, the next season is being filmed in Croatia, so contestants won’t have to endure such a harsh climate now.
It should come off as no surprise that the contestants often have to be removed from the competition due to injury, so this time around the quarantine alternates are more likely to be swapped in instead.
Double Agents is coming to an end with the airing of the season finale, and All-Stars is gaining momentum; now with the start of the production of season 37.
