Over the last couple of years, many celebrities have voiced their desire to own major stakes in professional sports teams. American rapper Silkk the Shocker is one of them. The New Orleans native wants to own the New Orleans Saints someday.
Silkk the Shocker Wants to Own an NFL Team
In a July 2020 episode of Heavy with Lakers, the famous rapper shared his wish to be an NFL team owner in his native city, New Orleans.
“I really want to. I think at some point I am.”
Silkk is a diehard fan of the American football team, and he usually takes to his social media accounts to extend his support to The Saints. Even when the team is not doing well, the rapper shows his sports spirit and motivates them to do better.
In one such instance, on January 15, 2018, when The Saints lost a game to The Vikings, he wrote, “To say I am sick is an understatement. Man! But luv my Saints, but we got to do better. Great year tho. Back to work I go.”
However, as of now, the owner of the football team is Gayle Benson, who bought the team in 1985. According to Forbes, the New Orleans Saints are valued at $2.475 billion as of September 2020, which includes $1674 million of sports value, $322 million of market value, $362 million of stadium value, and $117million of brand value.
Moreover, the team’s total value is up by 9% compared to the previous year.
Chasing Billions
If his dreams come true in the future, looking at the football team’s increasing team value, the rapper will be known as a billionaire someday. He is certainly chasing his dream, as he often captions his picture with “Chasing Billions.”
Sharing a picture of himself, Silkk wrote about how he thought becoming a millionaire would be impossible, but he indeed did it. And now, he’s chasing the billion with his hard work and dedication.
His actual words were, “When I had nothing, not only wanted to be wealthy but work and never settle or be satisfied so when I was saying I want to chase millions cause where I am from a million was unreachable!! So I thought. Well, I was now Chasing Billions. Cause a Billion seem unreachable. But really, it’s not about the money but the work it takes. Never stop! Chasingbillions.”

Thanks to his successful songs, music albums, and acting career in TV shows and movies, the rapper-cum-actor has an estimated net worth of about $2 million as of 2020.
Silkk entered the Hip-Hop business when he released his debut album The Shocker in 1996. Following that, he released a few successful albums in which he collaborated with artists like Master P (his brother), Trina, Mystikal, and many more.
His song titled ‘It Ain’t My Fault’ with Mystikal became his trademark song. Another piece, ‘Somebody Like Me,’ was one of the top-selling singles on the Billboard charts in 1999.
In 2010, the 45-year-old launched his first mixtape named ‘All I Do is Win’ that marked his return to the hip-hop world after six years of absence. Moreover, the talented singer also featured on WWE’s Wreckless Intent album, released in 2006, which was a tremendous success.
