Rumer Willis addresses plastic surgery rumors, says she won't be ashamed of the choices she makes
Rumer Willis has been the topic of many discussions, mostly centric to her looks. From calling out photographers for photoshopping her image to being forward about the bullying which she faced as a teenager—the star child has been surrounded by countless news regarding her appearance.
Willis Was Bullied for Her Appearance
The 32-year-old actress first talked about her bullying experiences when she was a part of Dancing With The Stars.Â
Willis revealed that she was bullied for resembling her father more than her beautiful mother in her teenage years. The Once Upon A Time In Hollywood star shared how people would comment on her appearance, calling it "masculine" — like her action figure dad, Bruce Willis. Her revelation in the Dancing With The Stars show had her mother, Demi Moore, in tears.
Even in her interview with the Huff Post in 2019, she revealed the bullying was indeed nasty. When tabloids like the Perez Hilton were gaining ground, they gave her nicknames like "potato head" and "Buttaface."
People would say I looked like a man or something called a 'buttaface', which means everything good but her face, or potato head was the big term that everyone used a lot, basically making fun of the way I looked.
Rumer further shared that the bullying had made her seek validation from others. The actress recalled how she had started determining her value based on other people's appeal towards her. She thought only of her face value and other's opinions rather than herself.
Her time in Hollywood had taught her to be more kind to herself. The Dancing With The Stars star admitted in an interview with Life and Style magazine that the show strengthened her resolve and made her get over her fear of failure.
Rumors about Willis Undergoing Plastic Surgery
It all began in 2017 when the actress chose to star on FOX's drama Empire, where she played a musician's role.Â
In the series, she had the opportunity to share her singing abilities with a wide group audience. What sparked the rumors was that her lips appeared to be more pronounced than usual.

Willis later addressed the rumors to be untrue. Adding on to her statement, she asserted that if she had chosen the route of plastic surgery, she would be confident about it rather than trying to hide it.Â
If I want to get a boob job or change things about myself -- I'm not going to lie about myself...And if I choose to do something to myself, it's because I've thought about it. And if it's going to make me feel better, I won't be ashamed of the choices that I make.
