Joe Gatto Teamed Up With his High School Buddies to Start the Tenderloins

Born on Jun 5, 1976, in Staten Island, New York City, Gatto teamed up with his high school buddies to build the New York-based comedy troupe called The Tenderloins in 1999.

The group performed improv shows and sketch-comedy for years and was rewarded with millions of viewers on the Internet when they decided to go digital. Their success eventually led them to the runaway success, Impractical Jokers, for truTV in 2011.

The show catered to a huge fanbase, this time not just limited to the United States, as the prank show went on to become the #1 show on Comedy Central in the United Kingdom and India.

Impractical Jokers Compete to Embarrass Each Other

Impractical Jokers is built around the premise of four lifelong friends competing to embarrass each other with tasks designed by the troupe themselves. By the end of every episode, the Joker who fails to complete the tasks assigned is subjected to a grand punishment.

When expressed in words, it sounds cruel—well, mostly because it actually is—but watching Joe and his pals enact the bizarre tasks is through and through hilarious.

Impractical Jokers is also not limited to TV either. Joe and the gang have steadily been touring for the last seven years, performing for over one million fans in the US and UK, including six sold-out nights at Radio City Music Hall, a sold-out Madison Square Garden, and six sold-out shows at London’s O2 Arena.

In addition to the massively popular reality show, The Tenderloins also star in a reality game show called The Misery Index.

Joe Gatto Has a Net Worth of $7 Million

With his massive popularity, Gatto has amassed a respectable net worth of seven million dollars, according to Celebrity Net Worth in 2020.

Distractify, in 2019, reported that the comic is paid fifty thousand dollars per episode of Impractical Jokers, which was an almost 100% increment over his 2015 revenue of twenty-six thousand dollars for the same gig.

To give you an idea of how popular the Impractical Jokers are, Impractical Jokers: The Movie generated over three million dollars in the first week itself, despite limited release. The movie was only screened in 357 theatres to finish in 11th place at the box office in their first week of release. Every movie placed above them on that list was screened in at least 1,800 theatres. The movie racked up a total of ten and half-million dollars against a budget of three million dollars.

The truTV hit aside, Gatto, who is an avid dog lover, is also the author of Dogfather. He even has a separate Instagram page for his dogs with 11K followers!
