Is Hallmark's 'When Hope Calls' Getting a Season 2 Renewal?
The Hallmark series When Hope Calls exceeded all expectations with its captivating debut season back in 2019.
The show was a spin-off of Hallmark Channel's mega-hit When Calls the Heart, which kept the core of its predecessor with heartwarming storylines and occasional crossovers with the original show.
The fans have been swooning over the amazing chemistry between the two long-lost sisters–Lillian and Grace since the show premiered in August 2019 on Hallmark Movies Now. The sisters grew up apart but reconnected as adults to operate an orphanage in Brookfield.
While they struggle to discover romance and happiness while conquering the hurdles of caring for the kids in their care, the sisters are caught between the traditions of cattle ranchers and the goals of a rising community. As they build the family they've always wanted, they discover community, acceptance, and love along the way.
Created by Alfonso H. Moreno, the western drama is loaded with powerful performances, well-balanced soft and passionate moments, evolving relationship dynamics, and an ultimate showdown.
And after the spectacular first season, hearties are eagerly waiting to see what happens next?
Will There Be 'When Hope Calls' Season 2?
The Hallmark fans were given a special treat when the network announced that the beloved dramas like Good Witch and Chesapeake Shores would be renewed in 2020.
The channel also stated that a Christmas special for When Calls the Heart was in the works for 2020, as well as the start of production on season 8 of the frontier-set series. They also surprised the fans with the news of screening the first 18 of 40 new Christmas movies exclusively on Hallmark Channel and Hallmark Movies and Mysteries.
One program, though, was noticeably absent from the list. The status of When Hope Calls was not addressed by Hallmark. However, the series hasn't been formally canceled which has led to some people believing that renewal is still possible.
Fans Want a Second Season
Fans are now wondering if they'll ever find out what happens to Lillian and Grace, as the network has remained mum on the series' upcoming plans.
The lack of information concerning When Hope Calls hasn't been ignored by fans of the show. Some of them even expressed their dissatisfaction on social media. A group of fans identified as the "#hopefuls" has sent out tweets to Hallmark, begging the network to bring the show back.
“I’m so excited that @hallmarkchannel has renewed #GoodWitch but perhaps now they could renew #WhenHopeCalls too please,” a user tweeted.
Another user wrote, “Please, please, please can we have more of this wonderful show!”
“We would love to hear more stories from Brookfield!” another fan said on Twitter.
I feel like maybe there was a big executive change at Hallmark who has really bad taste and makes really bad decisions. I have canceled my subscription not worth it anymore. Oh and they did not bring back When Hope Calls - stupid! Someone at Hallmark please save these series. — C Luce (@cb290) May 29, 2021
