Christopher Russell is best known for playing the role of Panto Trost in the TV show Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency (2016-2017).

During his time on the show, he shared a passionate on-screen kiss with Silas Dengadamor, portrayed by Lee Majdoub—the same kiss which was the origin point for the gay rumors that surround the Canadian actor.

The Role Was Very Important To Christopher Russell

In an interview with MovieTVTechGeeks in November 2017, Lee Majdoub, with whom Russell shared the kiss, spoke about how important the roles were for both of them.

"That scene was very important to me, and Chris as well."

He emphasized that they had spoken a lot about making the relationship between the two characters more important than the kiss scene itself. This presumably gave off a message that gay relationships in Hollywood are not just about kisses and cinematic scenes.

"We spoke a lot about the importance of building a relationship between Panto and Silas that was believable. The conversation around the kiss itself was about finding the balance between making it important without making the scene “about” the kiss."

Majdoub also revealed that he was glad the LGBT fans liked the representation and portrayal they managed to show in the series. This could be true for Russell as well.

I’m really happy the fans liked it and felt represented. That was a huge sigh of relief for me.

Christopher Russell is Appreciative of His Fans from The Show

It has been more than three years since he portrayed the role of Panto Trost in Dirk Gently Holistic Detective Agency (2016-2017). However, even though the job is done and dusted, the fans that he acquired from his portrayal of a gay man has stayed with him all this time.

Russell, who is very appreciative of his fans, regularly shares various fan art of Panto Trost on his Instagram. Some of the fan art also depicts Panto and Silas together.

Christopher Russell is Married and Has Two Kids with Wife

It has become a norm that once you portray a gay character in the entertainment industry, you’re bound to be chased by rumors regarding your sexuality. And the same has happened with Russel after his portrayal of Panto.

But in real life, Russell has lived with the rumors and hasn’t released a public statement about them. Instead, he is living his life with his wife and two kids.
