The cameraman and the weather forecaster came to know each other while both of them worked at WHDH-TV. They developed a gradual liking for one another and dated for three years before getting engaged in July 2011.

A year of engagement, they recited their wedding vows in October 2012.

Five years after the wedding, the happily married couple welcomed their first child, a son named Calvin Bradley Fichera, on December 7, 2016. They announced their son's birth through NBC's show, Today, on Dec. 19, 2016.

After the birth of the first child, Fischera and his partner opted to expand the family. But the pair faced secondary infertility. As a result, Dreyer went through a miscarriage in the winter of 2019.
